I am looking for suggestions on how to reseal and repair damage from a small roof leak. The RV is a 2006 250 RKLS Springdale by Keystone.
The things I need to know are:
- How can I test for mold or mildew?
- If I have a small amount of mildew, how can it be removed or made safe?
- What are the best materials for resealing this type of RV?
- What is the process for resealing a roof?
- Do I need to remove sealant on the seams before layering on more?
In October, I noticed a pool of water about 3-4" on the side table in the bedroom. The water did not drip from the ceiling. It's like it came down the inside of the wall and pooled up on the side table. The interior of the cabinets and the floor show no signs of water damage. The ceiling has some slight wrinkling. I put two small dehumidifiers in the room to hopefully remove moisture,
It was a few days after noticing the leak until I could get it covered. On the roof, I found a crack in the sealant seam where the rubber meets the metal. I squirted Dicor in the crack, but it was too cold to dry, and it was an extra wet winter in the PNW.
I've provided some video clips showing the damage.
