Rick from Oklahoma

Hello, I'm new to the forum and own a Keystone Bullet Crossfire 1650EX hybrid. Bought this to pull to Idaho from Oklahoma with our 2017 Nissan Armada. I also pull it with my Ford F150. I'm interested in installing a rear bumper to this trailer and upgrade the furnace thermostat if anyone has any ideas for improvement please let me now. Thank you

Hey Rick,
Congrats and welcome to the forum.
I gotta ask, what are you going to use the bumper for?
Which thermostat do you have and, I take it you have an A/C?
Thanks

If your plan is to carry something on or connected to a bumper then go to your local welding shop & let them fabricate something suitable/strong enough for your needs welded to the rv frame. Any typical rv bumper is rated to carry the weight of a sewer hose & very little more.
As for thermostat, more info is needed to make educated recommendations.

My thermostat is a Dometic 38453. It operates the furnace only. I would like to have something digital that I can actually see. The ac is roof mounted and all controls on the unit. The bumper would basically be sewer hose storage only as the storage now is a tube and the fittings won't fit in it. I do need some way to haul my generator which is a Predator 3500. I was hoping to install a hitch to the frame and a hitch rack, however I'm not sure how sturdy that would be.

You may have some issues with all of your plans.

Your roof mount AC with built in thermostat and fan control isn't made for a digital wall mounted thermostat. Your thermostat for the furnace MIGHT have some sort of readable replacement but I'm not aware of it. Putting a Predator 3500 on the back of a 1650EX hybrid is just a bad idea. I'd put it in the bed of a pickup.

If you look up this thread..it was from a week or so ago you can see what this member did. He had to buy a module for the roof ac to allow it to be controlled by a remote thermostat and he had to run wires up to it. He had a Coleman ac unit I believe. It is not an easy conversion and takes some electrical skills and understanding of wiring in general. You may want to have your dealer install it if your hesitant with these kind of modifications. This may not pertain to your situation but thought I’d share.
