Legacy compatibility with GMC braking sys

I need some help or answers kind of quick. I have been told that the ITBCS (Integrated Trailer Brake Control system) on a GMC Sierra 3500 dually, is not compatible with the Keystone Legacy Package Disc brake system. I was told this from the dealership, when i went to my GMC dealership the Service Mgr told me he as not heard anything about this problem. I was also told by the Trailer Dealership that i needed to purchase/install a Dexter Legacy UFP adapter kit to over come the incompatibility problem. Has anyone else been told this and if so what, if any, was the service memo number/reference to GMC???

Trailer coming in soon, so need to get this confusion straightened out fast.

Thanks

There is a fairly active Montana specific forum and this issue has come up:

https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...ad.php?t=76509

You might want to join up on that forum as well.

I am not a member of the Montana forum but if I owned one would definitely join and post questions there. I don't think this forum is connected (I have been wrong before).

The Montana website has the same format as this one and I suspect it is under the same umbrella and you would use the same userid and password but likely need to be approved to join. I am sure there is a Montanaowners.com member that will have better info than I. I can't afford a Montana or anything made this decade for that matter bwhahahaha.

I had Titan disc brakes added to my '13 Redwood that they added some sort of gizmo to the brake wiring so my '13 GMC 3500 would recognize the trailer was connected.
You didn't state the year of your truck, but I assumed they corrected this issue on the newer trucks brake controllers.
Before fretting over it too much I'd wait to get the rv & know for sure. It took the guy about 2 minutes to wire up that gizmo on my Redwood : was good to go.

All the device is going to do is fool the truck into thinking it is connected to a trailer with electric brakes. I think the device is not much more than a resistor that mimicks the brake magnets resistance, making the truck’s brake system work.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 2020 GMC 3500HD Denali, and i'm getting conflicting info. Some say the ITBCS works with the model Trailer i have/will have soon. It will be a 2021 Keystone Montana 3831MS Legacy, others are saying it doesn't. Guess i will have to bite the bullet and either by the Controller Adapter and if i don't use it return it or have it installed if it, get it installed.

Thanks again for the reply

Legacy compatibility with GMC braking sys

So I have a 2020 Silverado 3500 dually just picked up my 2021 Montana 3931fb legacy package Tuesday to prep for a trip Saturday to find out first tow my brakes don’t work. Dealer was no help Chevy or Montana. Called keystone was told I would get an email about incompatibility and never got a response. Called dexter many times I am having dexter compatibility part sent to the house tomorrow to fix my issue. The Montana dealer called today offering to fix it sometime next week for a inflated cost. Twice what I got the part for from dexter.

Dexter part number k58-036-00

The part from dexter arrived today, install took about 15 minutes. Tested the trailer and the disc brakes are great now that they work. After testing I mounted the adapter to the wall and we are ready for our trip tomorrow.

Still frustrated no one told us at the dealership.
