New Champion Generator Model

Champion is introducing a new 2000 watt generator line in April, 2018. It is styled much like the Honda/Yamaha models and two can be connected with a parallel cable system that allows a total of 4000/3600 watts of power. Two generators with the parallel kit can be stacked to save space. From the looks of the new style, there are several significant upgrades that are not available on the older 2000 watt models. The engine size, weight, dimensions, operating noise are similar, but there is a significantly upgraded engine/maintenance management program, improved output monitoring and an LED display that provides total engine time and remaining run time. There is a 3 year warranty, making the warranty comparable to Honda's offering.

I got my 2000 watt generator at Quartzsite it will be 2 years old January. The big tent at Quartzsite has popular brand generator booth. I'll get onan oil for 6 $ a quart . My champion has been reliable . The new 2000 is way cooler and 3 year warranty

Thanks for the heads up John. I've been dragging my feet about a gen since we only camp in parks with AC. I've been thinking about ranging out and the genny will be needed so this sounds pretty good. Guess I'll wait until April to see what's what.

I bought a new Champion 2000 W generator about six months ago and I think it came with a three-year warranty

Have had a few of the champion 2000s over the years and They have always worked well for me, but they will not run the air conditioner in my camper with the micro air easy start and a honda 2000 will...
That was my only reason for upgrading

I bet micro air will test this new champion

Steve,

The auxiliary tanks feed through the fuel tank cap, so if there is an aux tank with properly fitting tank caps, then yes, they will work. I'd guess that since the fuel tank caps on the 2000, 3100 and 3500 watt Champion generators are all the same, this new model will also use the same basic cap (07100.00). That's a hunch, based on the owner's manual available from Champion on their website.

The Honda extended run system will not work with the Champion generators, not because of a problem with the generators or the aux system, but simply because the fuel tank caps on the aux system don't fit the Champion generator fuel tanks. Change them out and the system will work with Champion's generator systems.

This link is to one of the "generic" aux fuel systems that works with essentially all generator systems simply by changing the fuel caps. http://www.ipiindustries.com/service...ded-run-tank-1

Yes that's what I have on my Honda. I figured the cap would be different but I have a friend that purchased a Berg tank with my suggestion and hasn't been able to get it to work on his Generac 2000 gen.
I was told the Hondas had a fuel pump, don't know if that's true or not so that may or may not be the cause, but just courious about the Champions in case my Honda ever gives out.

I'm not sure how the Generac is fueled, but the current (square box) style Champion inverter generators do not have a fuel pump. They are gravity feed, so the aux tank must be elevated higher than the generator fuel cap for it to flow fuel. There isn't any information available on the new style Champion to indicate whether it will have a fuel pump or not, but my guess would be that they will stay with the current design and it will also be gravity feed.

Possibly your friend's Generac is the same? If so, he may get it to work by leaving the aux tank in his truck bed and sitting the generator on the ground? Then, again, his generator may be like the Honda and have a fuel pump????
