Slideout problem

The other day, as part of the maintenance we perform on our trailer, we applied "Premium RV Slide Out Rubber Seal Conditioner by Thetford". This was a different brand than we have used in the past but the same type of product. After applying this to the seal of our slide, when we brought the slide back in it jerked (a lot) as if sticking. We pulled it back out and again it jerked as it was going out. It left a residue on the metal sides of the slide and on the windows. We figured it must be the new can of seal conditioner so cleaned the rubber off the best we could and applied the old brand we had used in the past (Protect-All). It is better but is still jerking a little. Has anyone else had this experience? We don't want this to damage our slide - which was working smooth and fine before.

Applying 303 to the seals shouldn't affect the operation of the slides by causing them to jerk and bounce. The seals are not part of any moving mechanical parts of the slide operation and are there mainly to form a barrier between the slide walls/roof and the main body of the RV.

Did you wipe or spray the 303 on the seals? If you sprayed, perhaps some of the 303 found its way to the cables and/or wheels and caused them to slip while moving resulting in a jerk or bounce?????

Sometimes, if the seals have not been conditioned and are stiff and "sticky" they will stick to the sides of the unit but this is only a temporary thing until they "free" themselves from the sides.

Our slide is a cable system. Seems to jerk more going out than in. We followed the application instructions which said to spray it on close to the seal, then wipe it to spread it evenly. Because we have done this many times in the past two years using Protect-All and it did not act up until we used the Thetford product, we're wondering if there is something wrong with it.

I just sparyed my seals with 303 on the inside and outside. Left it sit open for a day. I noticed it there was a little jerking while going in and then back out. But when we got to our camp site every thing was fine. I have the rack and pinion design. I'm just thinking it was a normal occurrence. I noticed the 303 does make the seal a little sticky at first but then again i just let the access drip off i didnt wipe them off.

Slides

I have a 2014 Outback Fifth wheel 296FRL with the cable slides. This is the 3rd time for this problem it has been back in the shop and they have to replace the gear motor. The dealer says it is stripping the gears out. Anyone else heard of this?

Look up BAL cable slides. They have a couple videos and instruction manuals. Alot if installers do not line up the hole in the trailer properly with the cable adding stress. Also if the cables are to tight it will cause stress on the motor. This sounds like your issue, a properly adjusted slide will have slack in the oposite cable from slide movement

We took ours to our local RV repair shop for a quick look. They said it may be slightly out of adjustment but everything looks good. We've been looking up the adjustment instructions online and have slowly been improving its performance as well as cleaning off the cables as best we can. Of course, none of the RV places have room to get it in for service until September because they're all so busy right now. We're getting ready for a 2-month road trip and just wanted to make sure the jerking wasn't damaging anything. We still think there's a connection with some possible overspray from the seal conditioner - just too big a coincidence.
