They have really made a come back here in the west. As someone who is outdoors a lot. the first I got to see, I was around 28, now 58 and see them on a regular bases. I have handled adult birds both live and dead while working. If you get close to be able to compare your fingers in size to their legs and talons they are about the size of my fingers. The crimes against them have now dropped from a felony to misdemeanor since they became de listed as endangered. One case of illegal killing I had involved a man who shot the bird since it was attacking his pet ducks. The feds refused to charge him for the killing and illegal firearm possession, he did get deported.(fed law illegal aliens cannot have firearms) I was upset because I could have taken the case thru state court but, turned it all over to the feds as they wanted.
