So if anyone is interested in how I chose to spend money, I went Renogy 2x200w panels, Rover 40a MPPT controller with BT, 40a ANL fuse, a 10a inline solar fuse,(likely won’t use as running panels in series) and associated mounting hardware.
Started install by opening battery compartment and remembered my 12v batteries are not installed “perfectly” in parallel with most of draw pulling from one battery and two simply wired to it. There are various blocks used with cables to them but it mostly doesn’t make sense the way it’s wired by dealer. (Go figure). That mess will be dealt with in near future.
Got up on roof and laid out panels pretty much where I want them and was pleased that I have MC4 connections on roof after talking to future sales and being told Keystone used a different connector in roof port for solar prep. Guess future sales used to be Jaboni.
Looking at a Jaboni video on solar prep I next went to the solar prep box behind wall in basement for wires from roof. Found the box well marked and a loop of wires connected with butt connectors. Before cutting them apart I tested for juice and found 13.6. WHY is it necessary to run power to the port on the roof? Well at least it made it easier to determine which went went to port and which went to battery bay.
Problem is that the wires for solar are well wrapped in, through, and around the rest of this mess making it virtually impossible to get separated. Gotta love the attention to detail and workmanship with electrical here.
I will remedy this by reinstalling panels and hopefully never having to go back again.
Still waiting on 8g cables for batteries and sealants for roof mounting but at least I’m started on it!
