Seems it was way easier to get prime spots for the upcoming season (23) than last year.

I have 7 trips booked over a span of 60 calendar days actually camping.

The longest trip from home will be about 900 miles, the rest between 250 and 400 miles.

From the ocean to the mountains.

Trying to get into a favorite park in Borrego Springs, CA in Feb. No luck. Waitlisted for a cancellation.

We started making "some" reservations for 2023, but not going out any further than 6 months. Also, received some e-mails from a couple of our favorite "private" campgrounds that said reservations for 2023 will be open 12:01 am on January 1, 2023 for the 2023 calendar year. So, keeping my fingers on the keyboard for those.

With fuel prices still wonkey, it's kind of hard to plan anything too far out, or a distance too far.

We will be scheduling an extended "tour" focusing on ending up in North Carolina for the entire month of August 2023 where I'll be working as a campground host again. So, traveling there will probably be a 2 month trek and then returning home from there will probably be 2 more months. So, we've kind of gotta wait to be within that 6 month window as most state parks won't take reservations either after January 1, or 6 months out.

Still, too many unknows for us at this point to plan too far ahead. Maybe with the decline of the Covid impulse RV purchases folks and lots and lots of those folks now attempting to sell their "escape from the world Covid dream", campgrounds won't be in as much demand this coming year? Who knows?

I've planned ahead and made 7 trip reservations for 2023, March through November. All within 325 miles. A couple of our favorite places are hard to get into even if you reserve early.

I'm just wrapping up reservations for a 7 state, 8 campground, 16 day, 2500 mile trip in April and May.
There's one night in East Texas that I don't have confirmation on, but everything else is done!

Guess it's time to start thinking about the next trip.

I know lots of state and federal campgrounds only have 6 months in advance window.
Luckily that didn't come into play this year.
Most of our spots are at private RV parks, but not all.
We have done that 6 months pounce before on prime spots, amazing how many people stay awake till 12.01 AM to take it away from me, ARG.

I noticed this year Oregon will tack on another 25% to outsiders at their state campgrounds, bummer, they have some nice ones.

This spot here is a 6-day spot of a 2-week Oregon coast jaunt, where we can't wait to see our view from spot #18

Thinking about even going out on a charter boat to catch some fresh rockfish for dinner. A bit pricey at 100 bucks for a 5-8 hour trip, but wife said "Heck yes, let's do it" and tack on another 21 bucks for a 1 day license too, arg.

$100 bucks is CHEAP …private charters around here are like $800 -$1200 and offshore is in the thousands…Head boats are much much less but your fishing with 30 or more people…i’m not a fan of those at all…but some people are quite happy to get out on a boat

my son has his captains license and guide license and used to do charters but too busy lately with regular work

we used to do a family thanksgiving fishing trip but he is in the south pacific at the moment and the boats are on the hard
