Outback 292URL

Hi Everyone, I just got an Outback 292URL. We have only towed it twice. The Theatre seating isn’t secured and moves to the center of the room and all kinds of screws are falling out. Question, is it supposed to already be secured or am I supposed to secure it myself? I previously owned a Keystone and the furniture was either secured already or had straps. Appreciate your input.

Before trying to put screws through the seating and into the walls, I'd explore just attaching a couple of 1x2x6 inch blocks in front of the front feet on the seating. That would keep it in the slide and should prevent the seating from migrating out into the room. USE CAUTION when choosing which screws to use. The slide floor is not very thick (usually 5/8") so using 2" screws will "permanently anchor your slide"... You don't want any part of the screws to extend below the slide floor or it may scrape your vinyl flooring and damage/destroy it when you extend or retract the slide.

Anything "behind the axles" in a trailer is going to be exposed to increased lateral forces as the trailer sways during towing. So I'd also make sure your sway control system is "tweaked to perfection' to eliminate as much sway as possible. If you are using the "single bar sway control" on a standard WD hitch, it's likely not sufficient to manage sway on a trailer of your size. If you are using an E4 or another "sway control hitch system" then make sure your setup is correct.....

Welcome to the forum!

John has a good idea. My theater seating is secured with screws. I've had then out but don't remember how long they are, but they aren't very long. The seating has holes in the feet to put the screws through. Some don't use the screws at all.

The other point brought up that very well could be your issue is sway, bounce etc. That is a 34', 9500lb. trailer. If you are trying to tow that with a 1/2 ton pickup I would think that could well be your problem - btdt. What is your tow vehicle?

If you would fill out your signature with year, make and model of your trailer and tow vehicle it makes answering questions much easier. Just go to the User CP in the upper right corner, select edit signature, fill in the details and save.
