Hello from Minnesota

Hello, permission to come aboard?

Been camping for 5+ decades. Currently we have a Jayco hybrid. We are in the market for something new. We are serious considering a Cougar 22MLE 5ver.

We're looking for something small. Ideally we want something sub 30 feet. We like to boondock and want something small to get into more remote locations.

Happy Camping 🏕

Welcome to the forums and good luck with that Cougar. Have you had opportunity to actually look at one in person? If not, hope you can do so, real soon.

Thanks everyone

Yes, we viewed many Cougars this winter including the two in my signature. There are things that I line and don't like in both. We have two more 5vers of SOB that we want to look at before making our final decision.

Well, if you have been camping and owned RVs in the past, you will know that there are less compromises in 43' RVs than 23'. If you stay within a certain size your previous camping experience will tell you which basic issues you can live with and which you can't and then it comes down to druthers as most all the campers coming off all the manufacturer's lines are facing quality issues. Perhaps now that the sales boom is over they will have the workers focus on putting staples and glue in the right place and wiring things correctly; also keep in mind that many of the complaints you hear on forums are due to the high-tech junk the OEMs seem convinced will lure in the younger tech generation.

We would really like a rear living room with good campsite windows. But those are much bigger than we want. We like to boondock. We use to backpack and canoe for weeks at a time when much younger. DW is not big into tent camping anymore. I still ackpack a little and tent camp maybe 15 nights a year. So a small 5ver is luxury compared to what we use to do.

Honestly, if I had my choice, I would like a low profile 5ver, a bit like a LQ horse trailer, but no one makes anything like this anymore.
