Starting the mods on the new TT!!

Well, the mods have begun on our new 2023 Passport 2400RBWE. This is our 8th new RV in 25 years, and have modded them all. Sometimes out of necessity, other times it's just fun. So far this is what has been done.

First the drawer and cabinet pulls were terrible. The DW has some arthritis in her hands, and getting them open was near impossible. So heavy brushed stainless pulls were installed.

Then several hooks, towel bars, and various necessary "holders" were added.

An Andersen No Sway Load Distributing Hitch was put on.

A back up cam was put on the back of the TT to assist with getting into camp spots.

A electronic Bluetooth leveling device was installed to simplify the leveling and set up process as much as possible.

Also a remote display for the Xantrex Inverter was installed in the bedroom area.

The Lippert Tire Sense TPMS was installed. The mounting dock was pre-installed by Keystone.

I added water connections in the water bay to ease the city water hook up and a splitter to the black tank flush is a one hose option. A "plunger" was added to the water bay opening to seal it up against critters that may want to check into a nice warm storage area.

Also ran a Starlink cable through the water bay to the bedroom area for the Starlink router. It has a sealed entry point as well.

I bought and installed 1/2" rubber foam flooring in the storage bay to keep stuff from flying around as much going down the road.

A Girard tankless water heater is on the bench prepping to install in place of the Suburban 6 gallon tank WH that came with the unit.

After that I will be starting to shop for a Combo washer/Dryer for the rig. That was one of the DW's big necessities.

And after that, a new remote control Fantastic Fan for the bathroom.

So there has been no time to get bored. And that's just the stuff I have though of so far

Sounds like some cool mods! Congrats.

You mentioned a splitter on the city water inlet to the black tank flush using a single hose. I hope you have a anti-siphon fitting (don’t trust the one Keystone installed inside). Personally I have never let a potable water hose or connection come anywhere near a sewer flush. Accidents can and do happen and e-coli is not nice to anyone, especially us older folks. I maintain separate hoses and fittings for tank flushing and never mix them. I know you have a lot of camping experience so I won’t preach.

Only thing I will add is if you have room get separate washer and dryer. Your Bus had stackable, right? If you used it regularly I think you’re in for a disappointment using a combo unit.

Yeah, I have had a combo unit before. They work OK, it just takes a LONG time to do a load. It also comes down to weight. After I get all the other stuff done, I will run it across a CAT scale and see where the weight numbers are.

That and we could use the extra storage of the upper dryer cabinet.

Sounds like you’re on track, moving from a bus can be a bit of a shock.

Oh yeah, a big change. But I had a cancer issue last year and it made my evaluate many things. The change enabled me to lose some debt, a whole lot of maintenance issues, and a lot less stress. Funny thing is that over 25 years we have made a huge circle. Our first RV was a 26' TT.

But it's all part of the journey. And it's all about willing to accept change. The one thing all of us will experience

Adapt. That's the key. We are all thrown many monkey wrenches at the most inopportune times. Roll with it and do what you have to. My best wishes to you and yours. Although the TT will be different than the MH it still holds positives; just got to adapt and appreciate what's there. Me, DW and my DS just had that conversation this evening.

Thanks for the positive wishes guys, much appreciated. Funny how you can float along feeling pretty bullet proof. The DW and I stay in shape by carrying workout equipment with us on the road, eat healthy, have regular checkups ect. Then something comes along and knocks you down. Welcome to real life!

Oh and I forgot another mod. The trailer is really set up for boondocking, 400 watts of solar, 12 volt refer and TV. But as a result they really cut back on available 120 volt outlets around the rig. I went into the breaker panel and found an empty space on the Bus bar. I added a 15 amp breaker and an outlet by the theater seating unit for power to run various electronics. I even figured out how to mount my computer table next to my chair. We truly believe in "Roughing it Smoothly"!

I wonder if that is trademarked?

Sounds like you've had a good time adding all these things. After joining this forum, I too have made some mods, some because of what I've gleaned here. I got rid of my original tires and upgraded them and last year I purchased a TPMS which I haven't had a chance to install and try out yet. The one thing you didn't mention, that I too have not scraped the cash together for is an EMS. Hopefully sometime in the near future I'll get around to it.
