Hello from SC (that seems to be the way to start…)

Hi all,
Bought a 2022 Premier 23RBPR off the lot, the dealer is prepping it and I go Friday to do a final inspection and determine what else has to be added. Is there anything specific I should be looking at?

It has a backup camera (they promised me there was a display monitor with it but we could not find it), the 400i upgraded solar package, one 12V battery that seems to have been on it since it left the factory 12 months ago. I suspect that thousands of people have been through it, I am hoping to tap into the wisdom of this group for specific things to verify.

I do plan to fill the water tank, check the pump and all the fixtures, check if I need to upgrade the mattress (likely!), and the electronics including the inverter. But what else other than the obvious should I do?

Thanks!
John

Welcome to the forum

Congrats on your new purchase. As a rule the factory doesn’t install a battery, so I would check the date on it. There is a PDI checklist here on the forum.

Bottom line, make them demonstrate that every thing works. Check the roof if you’re allowed, some shops don’t allow customers on ladders for liability reasons. If they don’t let you, then inspect and take time/date stamped pics as soon as possible. If everything checks out, make sure you have good brake control and weight distribution with sway.

Be sure to look under the trailer, yes... crawl around under it and look up. Look for loose screws and bolts.

If they have been using the trailer to show folks and using that battery that may have been on there a year I would absolutely insist on a brand new battery...or 2. I have no doubt that those folks have run that battery down to nothing multiple times which basically ruins it for RV use.

If I were looking at the trailer prior to signing on the dotted line I would look at the roof penetrations to ensure the Dicor is intact and no cracks, etc. Leaks and water intrusion are the #1 trailer killer out there. The Dicor is the whitish goop around the edges of the trailer and across the back and front/cap seam. All screws should be covered. If you can't get on the roof, have them fetch you a ladder and look from the side. The time to hold them to fixing things is prior to signing on the dotted line.

Hi John, and welcome to the forum!

Congrats on your new Premier!

All good advice given above. I would also suggest, if possible, to spend a night or two "camped" out in your driveway. Doing this will allow you to get some real world feel on how things work and identify anything that needs attention.

Have fun and take care!

Depending on your climate, bring a hair dryer or heat gun and a can of freeze spray (canned "computer duster" held upside down works) to fool the thermistor and force both the furnace and the A/C to activate to prove they work. (I couldn't believe my dealer didn't know how to fake ambient temperature this way.)

Seriously, get the PDI checklist from this forum and work every line of it. I wish I had it when I was doing mine.
