Forest River Fantasy Numbers

https://palominorv.com/fifth-wheels/river-ranch

Was looking at one of the online RV newsletters and they featured the FR Palamino River Ranch. I was kind of stunned to see some of the specs they described for this monster. Note the hitch weight in particular... 2295 lbs! This rig will probably be billed as 1/2 TON TOWABLE. That stated pin weight is about 16 percent of the shipping weight. How the heck do they come up with these fantasies?

WOW! a two axle 18,000# GVWR 5er with a 16.5% pin, not likely once loaded!
More likely about 22% for comfortable towing, and 3,960# pin.

Maybe there's a "misprint" in the last bullet statement in the "CONSTRUCTION FEATURES" section:

16" wheels with nitro fill tires

Probably should have been:

16" wheels with helium fill tires

With all that "under floor storage" there is lots of room for all the helium filled balloons without infringing on the living space....

Just another example that "anything is possible in the marketing department"...

This one belongs in Disney World's "Fantasy Land".....

"Your F250 gasser will pull it like it's not even back there!" says the salesman.
With ALL that underneath storage I can see exceeding the 17999lb GVWR very easily & putting on nearer 25% pin weight.

And I'm sure the Legal Dept. added a disclaimer in there somewhere with a font size suitable for microfiche printing.

The storage comments are ON POINT.

When we were searching, I was intrigued at how much storage (underneath and cabinetry) these units have, but the cargo capacity doesn't merit! I compared cargo capacity to make sure we had the capability, not just the space.

I had one of these for a year. https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/fifth-wheels/arctic-wolf
Not the exact model but it was listed with these weights approx. 1350/8500/11000
It was light on the pin, only dropped my 2500 1 1/2 inches & trailer would bounce off of the 5th wheel on bigger bumps.

Come on folks. Delete the power cord reel from the standard equipment and you could tow this thing with an F-150. F-150's are magic. MAGIC I tell ya. Won't even know it's back there.

Only 2overhead cabinets in the kitchen? No drawers in the bedroom, guess you go outside to get your clothes after or maybe before shower. Don't see full-time living in that Rig

A realistic pin weight is more like 3,960lbs at 22% of GVWR (17,999) This is for sure a diesel dually, maybe even one of those Volvo tractor rigs.
