12v system @ Pinbox

Not having my trailer nearby to check, I was wondering if when connected to just the battery, not the TV, should there be hot 12v service to the pinbox electrical junction box? I'd like to tap off it if I can for an exterior LED light.

Yes, there is 12 VDC available at the junction box. Assuming that the workers at Keystone (and/or your dealership) wired the trailer end of the 7 pin plug correctly, these pictures will guide you at to "what is what"... The color you're looking for "SHOULD BE" black and it's on pin position #4 on the TRAILER END of the connector. If you've got a multimeter or test light, you can easily confirm that there is power there when the trailer is disconnected (and battery switch is ON). Don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start wiring or re-wiring the junction box, there are a "Lot of sparks" around that junction box LOL

The second diagram is the TRAILER END of the wiring, the black wire on PIN 4 (in the 2 O'clock position) is the "12 VDC Hot Lead"...

Kind of thought so John but wasn't sure. I'll be checking with my meter, so, should be good to go. Again....

First thing I do on a PDI, install a battery and use a jumper wire in the 7way to check for proper wiring. Knock on wood, haven't had one wired wrong yet.

Yes you should have 12v @ the pin box for breakaway switch to lock the brakes if it becomes disconnected from the TV. That power will come from the trailer batt.
