back up camera wiring

2021 Cougar 25rdswe
Hi all, a quick wiring question.
I'm installing a Visionworks wireless camera to the back of my TT that is prepped for this.
The wires I find behind the plate at the TT are both white. One has a green stripe.
The Visionworks camera has red and black wires.
Which wire on my TT is red and which is black?
Thanks in advance. Bob.

Use a volt meter and the +12VDC will be the red wire. The -12VDC will be the black wire. That "pigtail" is connected to the center running light (on most trailers) and while the white wire with the green strip "is supposed to be the supply wire" there's no guarantee that the "rushed worker on the assembly line" connected them correctly when he did it, 5 minutes into his lunch break....

Trust BUT VERIFY .....

On your camera, red is the supply connection and black is the ground connection. That should align with the white/green as supply and the white as ground on the trailer wiring side. But......

I know between the two I will get 24 volts but I.m not sure how to get a -24volts or a +24volts to determine between the two.

Clarify this statement. If you have two 12 volt batteries they will be in parallel and still have a 12 volt output. The trailer operatesv on 12 volts dc.

Look closely. My Cougar 25RDS had a plug jammed below the other wires as part of the Furion prep. I put my finger down into the hole and fished it out. Then, it was plug & play. You will love the VisionWorks camera!

Between the white/green wire and the white wire (on the trailer) you will measure 12VDC. With the red VOM lead on the white/green wire, you'll see +12VDC, but only when the trailer clearance/tail lights are powered on. Otherwise you should read 0V between the two wires.

As for the 24VDC measurements, I can't think of anywhere on a Keystone RV that you'd read that much voltage unless you've "miswired your batteries" and have connected two 12 volt batteries in series rather than in parallel....

To the best of my knowledge, there is not a 24 volt DC circuit in the trailer.

I will check again in the morning.
All lights and other 12 volt items are working fine.
I haven't touched the battary since I picked the new TT up.

Seems I had my meter set to the wrong setting. The voltage is indeed 12V.
I was able to do the +12V and the -12V to determine the hot and neutral leads.
Te 12V is indeed the white wire with the green stripe.
My VisionWorks camera is now fully installed and ready for it's first road trip to Sisters, Oregon Monday for a5 day stay.
Thanks to all!!

Glad things worked out well. Keep us posted on how it works on the road. Your "guinea pig analysis" will give someone else a "heads up" on whether to install that system or find another.... Safe travels !!!!!

Conclusion.
On our first trip with the newly installed VisionWorks rear view observation camera the results were great!
I would recommend it to anyone looking for one.
If you do need to look at one please go to TecnoRV https://www.technorv.com/ to have a look.
I am in NO way affiliated with them but asking questions of their staff I find them one great company and will support them with any RV electrical gadget I may need. Or want?
Thanks for everyone's help.
Bob.
