Keep your fire extinguisher within reach

It surprised me they didn’t try and disconnect the TV ..is it advisable to try and shutoff batterys? Or just stand back and let it go?

He had the landing gear down, so I don’t understand why he didn’t pull away.

If you notice the tailgates down, landing gear down but the rv is sitting on the bed sides.
The smoke, which is probably toxic, may have gotten to bad to finish getting the truck moved.

Hello Prudential? It’s me again!
When that rascal is on fire just get to hell away from it and don’t save anything that isn’t breathing. Everything else will be covered by Geico. Don’t try to be some kind of hero.

Your right..I didn’t notice that! I guess anything is possible as far as how it started? Electrical or having the furnace running while traveling maybe?

I guess I have to agree, when you have propane involved in the mix it’s not a good idea

Why would you feel that running the furnace or refrigerator traveling would start a fire. Not different than running in high winds.

No I have no idea that’s why I posed the question....I haven’t had an rv long enough to know all the ins and outs ...could brakes heat up and cause a fire in underbelly? I’m just trying to figure out the possibilities..I know guessing is futile..I just get curious

If I were to make a SWAG, I'd guess in that old of a rv it may have been during the time when Dometic fridges would catch fire, that has been addressed & rectified since then, but the fire appears to have started in the fridge area.

FYI, I asked a arson cop friend about the propane tanks. On/off make any difference if there is a fire. Yes and No. If off or you can turn them off Okay. If fire stays small and not near them Okay. Maybe they will not become a bomb.
If fire is big and hot, the tanks e- release valve will open and vent propane no matter the valve position is at.
In simple terms, if the valve vents propane it is likely to catch on fire and add to your problems. Run do not walk away.
On train tanks that start venting propane and some other things, fireman run away not toward the fire. I would not be standing around any venting propane tank with a fire nearby.
On the RV here, I did not see/hear propane tanks venting. At one point something sure cooked off inside of it. I think the tanks themselves did not burn in the video.

I always had the fridge running on gas while traveling & on several occasions traveled with the furnace running, never had an issue.

Looks like they had drug some stuff out of the storage, including a 25 pound propane bottle.

The commentator said the owner tried to unhook, but the truck got stuck, most likely lost power to the landing gear and tried to pull it off anyway.

You could tell when they broke out that rear window, to fight the fire... with the door open the wind blew through like a blast furnace.

I hope the guy was coming home and not starting out.

I saw this. I also wondered if the smoke just got to be too much trying to disconnect.

Wind was blowing it to the front of rig. Terrible end to the day regardless!

I watched a TT burn up several years ago. Owners got out of the TV and got away from the rig. As much as I love my truck I’d do the same thing after seeing this. Fire Dept created a large safety perimeter and watched it burn until both propane tanks ruptured. Then put out the fire.

I see the burn scar and melted aluminum on the street every time I ride my bike to the boardwalk.
