TV Tire Recommendations

My tow vehicle is a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax. Original tires are Bridgestone Duravis 265/70R 17 E. These tires have not lasted as well as expected. Only 35,000 miles on these tires and need replaced before my next trip. Is this normal when towing a 12,000 pound 5er for approximately 20,000 of those miles? What are your experiences or opinions on E rated tires? Need to make a decision by weeks end. Thanks everyone.

Mike

I've never had good luck with Bridgestones. They came new on the 4runner I have (not an LD truck but,) and, for a big change, they are doing better than any I've had in the past on a truck.

That said, IMO, I would go with a Michelin Defender if it is applicable. I run LRE with no problems but I am only carrying a 10k trailer. Others have their opinions but you just a Michelin can't be beat...except for the pricing....and if you look hard, you might get them at a pretty good price.

Ive run Toyo ATs on our 2007 duramax shortbed club cab 4x4. About 40k on each set.

This time I went for a better Hiway tread pattern. He Toyo ATs aren’t aggressive and pretty quite but I wanted to try an HT tread pattern

Went with the Cooper Open Country HT. So far after 3’trips really like them. Quite tire, good traction, and my mpg went up a consistent 2 mpg while towing.

I have had good luck with the Michelin defender. I'm on Goodyear wrangler ht's now, much rougher ride and fuel mileage has dropped. I'll go back to the Michelin 's

Michelins, yea they're pricey but will out last most all others 2 or 3 to 1 as far as mileage. My OEM Michelins had right at 70k, could 've got another 5k I think, before replacing with the same tire which now have almost 55k & still lots of tread.
On company pickups, I've just about every brand out there & will pay the few bucks more for the Michelins & never regret it.

pulling a trailer for 20K miles will wear on your tires, 35K your tires should look worn.

I've gone with michelins and firestone transforce....both highway tires, not all terranin. they were good tires for me.
make sure you have the 80psi 'E' rated tires.

Thanks everyone

New Michelin Defenders going on the truck Friday. Thanks for the input everyone. I figured that would be my decision but a little verification is always a good thing.
