Just took delivery! 2017- Passport changes

We just took delivery of a 2017 Keystone Passport 2400BH. Very excited! Had a few surprises in the inspection process, namely the changes for 2017 that we hadn't seen...anywhere. I guess we looked at a 2016 at the RV show and we were told that the 2017 wouldn't be changing. The salesperson hadn't even recognized the differences and acted like I was crazy (but that's a whole different discussion with that guy). The pictures on the Keystone website also didn't reflect the changes.

So here's what we noticed so far-
The exterior has returned to the lighter color vs the beige all around. This wasn't a deal breaker for me because I liked that color anyway.

The queen bed has been swapped for a king- which is noted on the website in the floorplan, but not in the interior pictures. I have yet to see interior pictures of the wardrobes as sitting in the camper in my driveway- anywhere. This results in very small storage spaces on either side, like virtually unusable for anything but hanging clothes. I don't travel with hangers when camping. I'm OK with a King bed, but disappointed by the size of the wardrobes. In the end, not a deal breaker either and after my experience with this salesman, I was just happy for it to be over and have the camper home.

The only thing we have noticed so far that doesn't seem right is the installation of one of the plastic pieces that creates the wheel well on the slide side. It appears to be installed about 3 inches too high, resulting in the slide mashing into it when closed. An easy fix. We shall see what else we find on the shake down trip.

Overall, very excited. My kids wanted to move into the camper full time last night. Can't wait to get it out and have some down time!

If anyone else knows of changes on the 2017, please share. I'm hoping there isn't anything major we haven't noticed.

Thanks! We are excited! It's an upgrade from a 99 Keystone Cabana hybrid that we bought used. Thought we would test the waters before making the plunge and it worked out.

Enjoy your memory maker. The kids will never forget the fun. I purchased a 2017 Hideout and there is still no info on Keystone website talking about it. But we are extremely satisfied with it.

Re: Just took delivery! 2017- Passport changes

The side skirts are prone to cracking ( like mine did) , so i beefed up the stock chincy brackets. Did they put in an stove exhaust fan to the outside yet? I had to cut a 3 x 10 hole in the side of my brand new camper for that mod.

Re: Just took delivery! 2017- Passport changes

If it gets cold where you are (below zero), quite possibly your skirts will Crack. Mine did. I believe it is the way they are installed and formed. The edges near the screws have a lip which doesn't allow them so seat/sit fully against the camper wall at the screw locations. Then over tightening of screws put too much pressure and in the cold will Crack. I replaced mine under warranty and when I installed them, put little rubber washers between the skirt and trailer. 2 years since and no problems. They still sit tight to the camper, just not stressed.

Re: Just took delivery! 2017- Passport changes

We just brought home our 2017 passport 2400BH on Monday. I am pretty sure our bed is a queen size. even then our wardrobes are pretty skinny. Looks like mainly hanging clothes only unless you throw some rolled up socks in the bottom.
I noticed at the dealership the 2016 model did not have doors on the ends of the dinette seats. So to get to the storage you had to lift the seats. Luckily the 2017 has doors for accessibility. Makes it nice.
I also noticed they moved the control panel from next to the stereo and moved it up to the side of kitchen cabinets as you walk in the door. Really liked this so I don't have to worry about my 5 and 2 year old hitting the slide out switch.

Thats about all I can really think about right now.

Model year changes can be a mixed bag from my recent experience. My 2016, has some of the changes listed in the 2016 brochure, but not all.

I wish mine had the doors on the end of the dinette seats for access like the later 2016's have. I noticed that in some models they added a window on the front side of the slide, but then they remove the cupboards over the couch to allow for a slightly larger side window. We use the storage over the couch a ton, so I'm glad mine didn't have that new "feature".

You`ll love your Passport. We have a 2015 Passport 2810, there is nothing we dislike about it. Can`t wait for it to warm up so we can go camping.

We picked up our 2017 195RB a few weeks ago and we had some surprises too. The changes still don't jive with the website pics. The biggest was that we lost the cabinet above the bed. They made the bed better, but in a 19 footer storage is at a premium already. I was upset, but I got over it and still love the rig. Life's to short to get in a twist about it. I did b***h enough to get a few hundred back from the dealer though.

Most likely, you purchased a late 2017 model year unit. That's when changes are noticeable for the current year. Believe it or not, the "spring change over" to a 2018 VIN is just that...a VIN change, not much more. When I bought my Bullet last year at this time, it rolled off the assembly line several weeks earlier. By late April, the dealer was selling 2017s that were carbon copies of my 2016. In fact, the 2017's at the fall show (6 months later) were exactly the same. It wasn't until the late winter show (1 month ago) that changes showed up.

Congratulations on your new camper. we had a Passport 2910 for 6 years, and loved it. You will find that the sales people at these dealers are not always very well versed in the details of the product that they are selling. The other problem is that Keystone will make changes to their product in mid production without notifying dealers. The moral of the story is to do as much homework on the model you are interested in before you buy, if possible. The Passport served us well over the 6 years we had it and I would recommend it to anyone. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed ours.
