Ac stopped

Hi everyone
Last night at 2am our bedroom ac stopped. Turned off. Period. I Turned off “cool” and turned on “fan” and it worked fine. Any ideas? Is is safe to run on fan only with the main ac in camper area running? It’s HOT here in Tennessee! We normally turn off main room ac at night and only run the bedroom ac. But we’ve gotta have some air

Have you checked the breaker? Its possible your fan may be a 12v and the compressor is 120v. I’ve never seen it, but have heard it exists. I’m not an AC expert, but I always start with the obvious. Also, if it’s humid, it may have iced up, especially if you’re dumping the air from the AC instead of through the ducting. Give it time to defrost.

"Turned off"? Exactly what turned off? The fan, everything? You turned on fan only and it ran. Did you turn it to cool and see what happened? For it to completely stop, everything, sounds like a breaker. If it stopped cooling that's another thing. Is it ducted? Sounds like you have a thermostat....or is it roof controlled?

If the AC is 110VAC, the fans are 110VAC. In the traditional AC units one motor runs both the circulation fan and the condenser fan. In the new Furrion there are 2 seperate motors and they are both 110VAC.

in 12VDC AC the motor will be 12V.

If the entire unit shut off it may be a few different issues. I would try running it on cool again and stand there for a few minutes. Is it a ceiling controls unit or on a thermostat?

Info form you that would help the folks here better help you with your no A/C problem would be:
.. year, make, model of RV - you can add this to your signature block so this info is available each time you make future posts....

.. For me to help I need to know:
1. Brand of A/C unit? is it Dometic ( what model ), Coleman ( what model ), etc

2. Is the A/C unit controlled via a conventional thermostat or via In Command tablet in the HVAC menu?

3. You said it completely shut down but you have the fan running... Have you tried COOL and if so did you hear the compressor kick in... there is a delay when this is selected and usually indicated on either the thermostat or In Command display

His profile shows a 17 Avalanche. I don't think they were putting the new Furrions in back then and I'm not 100% sure on In Command - but think it was out in 17. When we bought our 14 it wasn't available as I recall but came out sometime pretty short after that I think.

A 17 Ave should have a ducted dometic, thermostat controlled, no in-command. The living room may be a whisper, but the bedroom will not be. Im wondering if the blower he’s getting is from the main AC pushing through the ducts and the bedroom AC just tripped the breaker.
