New Member/been lurking for a bit.

Hi all, I recently joined and have been lurking for a few months to glean info on trailer life and fix it solutions. I have to say Thank You to this forum and it's members as I have already learned so much, often only after I screwed something up in my trailer!

We don't have previous RV experience and acquired a seldom used 2004 Cougar 5th wheel from family. It's like new other than sitting outside for 20 years.

My wife and I moved into our trailer for a 10 week work stint in So Cal, as expected, there are many plastic pieces as well as roof vents that need replacing. So, many side projects to do!

Forum topics that I have searched and gotten amazing info:

Internet/TV: I am using Starlink, residential plan to work from "home". It's Amazing. I installed 2 TV's and a workstation (in the dining area) for my Hollywood VFX work.

Roof Vents/fan upgrades: Already started but the 2012 fan from Amazon motor didn't work... heck, it was too big for the hole anyway...

Grey/Black Water and Plumbing: Only after a mess and a few days of clog worry did I find the thread that tells me I have a "Galley" grey water pull that is "hidden".

Power/Wiring: I dabbled until I nearly cooked myself so I wont do anymore of that.

Cheers and thanks again!

Welcome!!
Sounds like you're really getting into the RV "LIFE"
Lots of projects and never-ending maintenance. Plus a real job?
I was born in Cedar and grew up in Beaver and Vegas.
You've probably already figured out this is great forum when you have questions or need help with a problem.
So. Cal for the weather, So. Utah for scenery

Welcome! I have an even older Cougar and strongly recommend getting up on the roof and resealing all the roof penetrations. Outside the roof, I had to re-anchor my roof ladder (don't use it anyway) and replace almost all the outside plastic bits that have deteriorated with age: outside stove vent, plastic hooks that hold passthrough doors up, roof gutter drains, the plastic thing that holds the front door from getting opened by the wind when the door is open, the vent stack fitting on the roof, just replaced the plastic kitchen sink faucet with a residential grade one from the hardware ... probably forgetting a number of items.

I have a 278EFS and it has a rear kitchen. See that the 276EFS does not. Never have been able to figure out what the EFS stood for. I have removed the crappy sofa bed and booth dinette and we now have recliners and an Ikea table w/2 chairs in their place. Another must have for us is an articulating show curtain rod as the 2' wide tub/shower is more narrow than I am... good luck!
