You are towing WHAT?

We are on our way from Kissimmee back home to Western NY.
I-95 is loaded with TT's, 5'ers and motorhomes.
All Canadians MUST be back in Canada by April 3 / 4th.All Canadians MUST be back in Canada

My observations from 2 days pushing hard North.
I-77 has some nasty cross winds. I don't care if you have a 3500 HD DRW some 5'ers I saw are just too big. All the truck makers are pushing just silly numbers and RV makers are stirring the coolade. There is just no margin for safety. Scary to be near.

At a rest stop in VA I saw a F150 pulling a 29' Forest River. Too much trailer. Actually he wasn't pulling because he blew a tire on each side and I looked, the other tires were soft and cracked. Glad he was no where near me.

I don't care what you are pulling you NEED WDH and sway control. I saw too many smaller TTs (my size) taking up 2 lanes. I saw 150/ 1500 trucks almost dragging their rear bumper.

It's pretty much a mass exodus from Florida, bumper to bumper on I-95. I got to see more idiocy, stupidity and miss information in 2 days than I have seen in years.

Look, it's the truck makers and the RV companies and dealers for both but something has to be done.

I am a Canadian and think you are misinformed. This may apply to people who are holidaying offshore. Not sure of your source.

I agree it’s the truck and trailer manufacturers pushing fairy tale like numbers but I firmly believe the bottom line is individual responsibility. People aren’t doing their due diligence and they are not educating themselves before they buy. Either that or people just don’t care...

Rob I agree with the craziness out there. I live in W TX where we have been experiencing the shale oil boom....now it is experiencing an implosion. Had to go to the store in another town today in stormy conditions and it looked like an exodus coming out of the oilfields. Some of the combos being driven would make you do a double take....and I was amazed at how many 150s pull pretty large trailers with no wdh/sway with their bumpers right at the pavement....plain nuts. W TX wind is harsh and it was blowing; as you watched them coming down the highway toward you (it is a wide, divided 4 lane thankfully), like you, I watched them use all of those lanes to keep plowing on....at what looked like at least 70mph (speed limit 75). Something will have to be done soon - too many folks just don't care...or don't know, but it is dangerous for us all.

I just came back from southern Florida yesterday. Lots of rv on the 81 and 84 .I saw four 5th wheels with blow outs and several cargo trailers broke down..two of the 5 th wheel rvs were left on the side of th road with no tow vechile in sight.when I got to Pennsylvania most of the road rest had signs that they were closed .and only open to commercial vechicles

We have many, many Canadians in our RV park and they all side with Joe on this issue of "All Canadians MUST be back in Canada by April 3 / 4th."
They all want Linux to give a source. Remember Joe Friday's infamous "Just the facts, ma'am."

All RVers were booted from parks in Brewster County and left Saturday. We got to Alpine and headed east and there was virtually no traffic on old Hwy 90. Lots of full timers living in parks near Big Bend and not sure what they did or where they went.

I’m glad my trip to San Antonio was canceled 25th for a school play we were going to see . The Texas private Parks were still open in Texas. Carlsbad caverns park in was New Mexico was closed I got a refund from Reserve America. I never thought about roughneck oil workers leave in a mess ascension after the Apache drilling company closed their doors.

Maybe I'm missing something here ?????

Is there anything inherently wrong with a class A motorhome towing a boat???

The invincibility (this will never happen to me) attitude has ALWAYS been around. You've just never seen it so much at one time! Mass exodus from trave;ers to get back home, and roads are filled. Nothing is changed or different, you are just seeing it all at once.

I'm not going away from this thread until someone with a brain explains the problem with the photo of the class A towing the boat. I believe I also missed whatever the point was.
On edit, I looked a little closer (with a little nudge), and saw that it was indeed a class A.

Jim,

If you look closely at the photo, there's a "front wheelwell" that gives me the impression that it's a Class A motorhome. It might be a Class C, but in either case, I don't see anything wrong with that RV towing a boat. Looking at the "foul waterline" on the stern of the boat, it's been "riding high in the water" indicating that it probably isn't a very heavy boat to begin with, and it's on a tandem axle trailer, further enhancing the "not overweight" observation....

I can't find anything wrong with the photo that would cause me any concern about that rig.... maybe I'm missing something, but I sure don't see the obvious problem.....

That's a Thor Ace Class A motor home. That boat and trailer are probably well within the towing capabilities of that vehicle. I don't see a problem.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Its absolutely WRONG... Especially since the trailer is missing the right side fender. Its a catastrophe waiting to happen

I've never seen class A and C towing a boat before and it struck me as different; I've seen towing cars, yes, but never a boat. But it was just one of the many streaming north now that the state has closed all the parks.

All I know is that every Canadian in Cypress Cove left saying they had to be back by early April. Every rest stop was full of Canada license plates and the roads were chock with Canada RVs.
