New pin box?

Looking to replace the stock pin box with an after market unit. I've been looking real hard at the Morryde and Demco. After talking to the Morryde factory rep, I am leaning in that direction. Any opinions about Morryde or Demco is appreciated.

Have a new MorRyde in the shed to put on our 293SAB. Obviously, I can't give you a performance report yet. Stay tuned.

I replaced mine with the 5th Airborne pin box. Had it on my previous fiver as well and really liked it. A salesman will always tell you theirs is best and whoever has whatever brand theirs is the best. A personal judgement call, shop around and do what your comfortable with. Thanks

Have the new TrailAir Tri-Glide on our new rig and just towed home to Western NY from Central FL. Was pretty smooth except for some of the bridge joints, they're a killer no matter what you have.

I had the 5th airborne installed before we brought it home, had the same thing on my raptor and would not pull without one. I bet they are all about the same ride just different price..

I have been using the Mor-Ryde for two years and glad I made the change. If I had to put a perecentage on how much it stopped the chucking I would say 90%. On some hi-ways I still have some mild chucking but very little. I also noticed it eliminated the Kluncking when taking off and stopping. It seems to be much easier on the truck and trailer. If money is no issue I would probably go with the air bourne or some kind of air pin box, but for the money I don't think you can beat the Mor-Ryde for performace and cost.

I went the same route... The MORryde and Demco both do a fine job of the fore and aft problems, but, they don't do anything for up and down. While a 5th Airborne does a superb job of up and down, nothing for fore and aft...

TrailAir with Tri-Glide is a marriage of the Demco style fore and aft abatement with the 5th Airborne's up and down cushion. Rather pricey, but, in my case, well worth the investment.



There is one drawback, but, not a large one. Every thousand miles or so, you are supposed to hit 9 zerk grease fittings with a shot of grease to protect the glide bearings. I'm not familiar with the Demco (same glide type mechanism), but, I would guess they have a "lube" maintenance process; something the MORryde (being a rubber block) wouldn't. Not a big deal, for me any way, I have a battery powered grease gun and when I check the air pressure, propane level, etc (usually every few days) I hit the zerks. Takes just a minute, but, the ride is well worth the effort. I'll have one on any new 5ers on the horizon.

I'm thinking the Morryde will be the way I will go. I don't need more "maintenance" items in my life.

I had the Demco on my HR 5TH wheel, Now have the Morryde
on the Montana. They both work great.

I was very lucky and found a new take off MorRyde that was the exact one I needed. (I purchased from someone who had a air ride pinbox and did not want the MorRyde that came on his new trailer)

I have to say it was the best money spent reducing stresses on truck and trailer. The amount of road shock absorbtion is remarkable. I highly recommend it.

I went the MorRyde direction and love it. It has removed about 90% of the chucking! My pin is around 1900# on the scales. If i was over the 2000# mark, I would have went the TriGlide route.

My thought is that I don't have a need for up/down cushioning with under 2k of pin weight. The truck doesn't porpoise or slam/bang at bridge abutments. I have loaded the bed with over 2k and had to double the air in my bags to ride level and the ride was harsh.
My problem was chucking only!

I ordered the Morryde and it should be here next Tuesday. Now to figure out the easiest way to install it.

The new Morryde pin box arrived Tuesday and I finished installing it today by myself. The total time from start to finish was about four hours. I would definitely recommend an extra pair of hands if available to help with lifting and positioning. I upgraded the bolts to grade 8 and added two extra bolts for a total of ten. This weekend I will give it a tow to see what difference it will make in chucking. The only item I did not reinstall was the level off the old pin box. I need to fab a new mounting bracket.

Took the Alpine out for a short pull around the area to test the new pin box. The Morryde RPB has eliminated much of the annoying chucking. I feel this was a worthwhile investment of $599 that will pay back in the long run. Now for the next project...
