Lightbulb Motion detector step lights

I have a 2021 keystone cougar half ton,
the motion detector lights on the steps to the bedroom are constantly turning on and off,
even if nobody passes by,
any suggestions

Try something like filament tape or a small strip of window tint over the sensor window to cut its sensitivity down. If that doesn't work, the lights are typically not that expensive to just replace.

Probably just need to replace it. I bought the ones in the link. They are blue vs the bright white of the OE - DW hates that bright light when she is in bed and puppy moves around. I have not installed them yet so don't know exactly how bright they will be.

Original one did same thing, replaced and new one is no better. Personal opinion is they are junk lights.
Hey sourdough are those any better? I see they are same manufacturer.

Yep, same thing. Kind of funny because you don’t know there’s an issue until your first night on the camper. I just called the dealer and told him to send it to me as he is 100 miles away. He had keystone send it. Was on my door step a few days later, this one works fine but there’s no doubt they’re not high quality.

I can't say if their going to be better or not. I've not put them in yet. The OE light at the stairs has lost some intensity so LEDs are starting to go I'm sure. Getting ready to leave and started looking for them yesterday....guess I'll have to look some more....DW has a way of putting things away that is very much like hide and seek to me....

Must be related to my DW. What sometimes works (for me) is to think " where is the last place I would put that?" That's worked for me, YMMV

Not sure if yours is the same issue but I found that the fan I run at night in the living area would activate the light intermittently. Changed the angle the fan so it was pointed more toward the ceiling and away from the light and the problem went away.

Had the same problem. I just cut and capped off the wire powering the light and haven't missed having the light one bit.

Exactly what I did after replacing “strobe for no reason” with new “strobe for no reason” light!

We are on our 4th set of front and back stair motion lights. The first set were strobe lights and the 2nd and 3rd sets never turned off. This 4th set works! Yay!!! They were replaced by Affinity 3 times.
One Tech at the National Rally(can’t remember if he was from Keystone or Affinity) said he has seen people go through a whole box of lights to get a set that works.

Curious to hear if the blue is any better than OE white.

I will follow up when I put one in. I will try to do that after we are set up in FL. We arrive there tomorrow then will have to get stuff etc. Maybe by weeks end I'll have one in and see what it's like.

A follow up on the above:

Well, when I pulled the list of "my orders" on Amazon it showed I had blue led lights - the box says nothing. Installed one yesterday and they are white, identical to OE. DW said she saw it come on once yesterday for what she thought was no apparent reason but pup was in the vicinity so I'm waiting to see how that goes. Sorry for the color confusion. When I pull up "my orders" now it shows warm white so..... For me I like the lights; with 2 bad knees that can't afford a fall and trying to "guess" where a step might be in the dark, the lights are a must even if a bit too bright.

Is it difficult to pull the cover off that motion light? DW wants it gone, as well those light switches that glow blue at night in the bedroom, got to remedy that...
Thanks...

It's a snap on cover. Since I had new ones I studied on how to get it off but the little tab to "pop" it off is up against the wall. I just took a small screwdriver and pulled it off from the center at the top. Just catch the very edge of the cover as it is pretty thin. If you get too deep you'll be trying to pull the entire back, and screws, out of the wall.

Forgot: you may need to do some wall mending if you just remove it completely. Mine has a ragged hole maybe 2" in diameter behind it. If DW doesn't mind it being there, just the light, you might be able to disconnect it. Be aware of what it feeds. The light is 12vdc constantly so you may have a line looped through it.

Thanks, I'm going to wait till it warms up a bit, when I tried in the summer i was afraid i was going to pull something right out the wall...I'll watch and see what could be downstream...
