electrical problem

Finally made it to deer camp this afternoon after a long week at work to discover an electrical issue that sent me home. I noticed right off that the lights and furnace didn't work. I have a 50 amp power connection and power was going to my camper. After investigating I discovered that all the electrical items that go through the breakers worked, but all the electrical that goes through the fuses didn't work. Checked fuses, and all looked good. I'm an electrical idiot and I know some of ya'll will have the knowledge to point me in the right direction. Help!

i’m thinking you have a bad converter or reverse polarity fuses and your battery wasn’t charging so it’s dead also..could maybe get by if it’s a bad converter with a new charged battery and separate portable charger to get you thru the weekend trip

thanks jasin1. I do not even have the battery connected since I have had full power with the 50 amp power supply. I've been operating without the battery for a long time and just on shore power without any problems. Would connecting the battery make any difference?

i think your converter may be toast. hooking a battery up may get you thru the weekend but would need another portable charger to keep it topped off. and you should always have a battery and the converter for operating slides and general use. maybe the reverse polarity fuses blew if the pos wire is hitting the frame or the neg wire from traveling

Converter wasn’t designed to power the trailer by itself. You need a battery of some type, size. I bet the converter is toast.

If you tried to operate the slide without the battery hooked uo, you may have damaged the converter.

I would put in a new battery at the same time to save your new converter.

Maintain your battery properly after each use. The battery also powers the brakes if the emergency cable brake release pin is removed, so it is a must have safety that needs to be in place. Glad you got your problem fixed.

Also with no battery the LP/CO detector is disabled as it's typically wired directly to the battery.
