Hobies are a great product, but very pricey and cumbersome the older you get.

If you are going distance and big water a lot, they are very safe, don't go out in a milk carton, you'll be asking for trouble.

We have mid-range yaks: https://vibekayaks.com/

I have the Yellowfin 120, my wife has the 100.

Loading them up, I like hers better, on the water, mine.

At 12 feet it tracks pretty darn good, I have a rudder for it that your feet control, but I've found I don't need it, and it makes it harder to load and move around anyway.

We paddle up to 5 miles, a few hours of easy paddling.
A good paddle is like a good golf club or fishing rod.

And get good gloves and a good seat with adjustable back support, a MUST!

We love it, but even at 75 pounds, it's getting awkward to load.
Once down if I am not at a ramp, we have carts that are very easy to pull from a campsite, or...

Pricey and heavy. We loaded them in the bed of his truck. That wouldn't happen with a 5th wheel hitch in there and I doubt there's any way I could put one on a rack over the truck. It looks tempting but figure that's for younger folks now.
