It was "inevitable"

Well, if you've got a bit of spare change and are looking for something to tow behind your new Tesla or Mustang EV, Bowlus just came out with an "all electric 26' luxury trailer"... And it's a "bargain starting at only $310,000 (Yes, that's starting at over THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS).....

https://bowlus.com/volterra/

PS: It does come with an optional (extra cost) "Propane backup system" for those chilly evenings when it's been cloudy all day.....

Other than the shiny exterior, that looks like a $30k rv. Guess I missed the other zero somewhere. Of course there will be people who buy it. I’m thinking with the mark up that it has to have at that price, the company should be good profit wise if the can sell 4-5 per year.

Airstreams look like a bargain compared to the Bowlus!

Is it just me or does the back of that thing look like an eagle? A single axle lightweight trailer behind an EV. Does that come with a hitch or kite string? To me, that's a lot of money to spend to say "I'm green". Gee, I wonder if all that aluminum was mined, smelted, and rolled using renewable energy? I wouldn't buy if I could afford it. JMHO, YMMV

Comes with a kite string and a key. Ben Franklin would be so proud.

The wait time for their $285,000 Terra Firma model (same floorplan, but not "all green technology") is only 2 years.... So, somebody, somewhere is "excited about spending $300K on a trailer.

Their cheapest model is the Endless Highways model (same floorplan, less options) and you give up builtin Starlink internet and EV charging, so no "extended range for your Tesla".....

I don't know who's waiting in line to buy them, but I can assure you, it ain't me

OK, I did some other Google Searching and found some other images of this camper, or this style of camper. The style (body) design is about 90 years old. It's not new. So, they've copied an old idea.

But the thing that REALLY got me were the images of the camper standing directly in front of the door on the outside. Step backward about 25 feet and what do you see?

My mind when straight to the gutter! I guess it just goes to show you, truly ... everyday is a new opportunity to start life all over again! Maybe THATS why it is really selling for over $300,000!

Did anyone notice that it's a single axle unit. I might be able to tow that thing behind my Aventon brand ebike.....it's pretty "beefy"

It looks to me as if it would be a real balancing act to to get hitch weight correct and if my fat butt would step into that rear door the leverage would lift a Tesla off the ground.

Granted, I’ve only looked at the photo John posted. But that thing looks like a very poorly made Airstream to me. The “dents” in the side look awful, even if it was at “just” an Airstream price.

And, for shame at ever calling that EV hatchback Ford is making a Mustang.

I'll NEVER own an EV so I just saved $300k on that half a## attempt to build an Airstream.

I'd say these guys are taking a big risk with their "redeaux" of an old idea that never really caught on. EconoCamping No weight police in 1955

I remember riding in my cousin's Nash Metropolitan. It struggled hauling the 2 of us around. Can't imagine it towing anything.

I totally agree!
I guess that's the only way to get anybody interested in it. If it weren't for the pony on the front it looks just like the Tesla.
Oh! And what about Ford's newest almost truck, the Maverick?? It's sorta like the Honda Ridgeline truck thing, they're both SUVs with a birth defect.
My mom had a Maverick, I had it's cousin the Mercury Comet, both were great little cars at the time, now it's a truck??

i don't understand the automakers recycling names with a totally unrelated product. If your old enough for the name to be nostalgic then you recall what that name stood for.

Fortunately there hasn't been a reuse of the Pinto name! Speaking of delightful EV mobiles, Toyota seems to be having strange problems with one of their's.

Wow, what dynamic of a vehicle being electric versus ICE would cause wheel lugs or hub bolts to come loose.
