Raptor 425TS is this black tank done for?

Hello all!

My garage black tank is leaking at the tank outlet. The fitting on the tank itself is cracked. O believe it's spun welded into the tank. Is there any salvaging this or is it toast and I'll need to replace the tank?

A note on the connection - there is supposed to be an O ring on the male fitting pictured. Even once I replace the O ring, only the very tip of the male connection fits into the female tank connection. I'm wondering if I just glue 3" ABS into the tank if it will behave? A 3" pipe will slide double the distance into the tank fitting.

Thank you for any feedback!

You can try, but I don’t think it’s going to work. BTDT.

If it was mine, I’d probably try glueing the tank and then installing a rubber coupling. Hoping that the coupling will not only take care of the length/connection issue, but also clamp down on the crack and keep it from leaking. It would also provide some flex and maybe take some stress off the joint. My biggest concern would be the crack getting worse until it completely breaks off. Kind of a crappy (pun intended) dilemma you have.

I guess another big factor in the decision is how difficult is it to get to. Is it in a spot where it’s not bad going back in to replace in the future if need be, making a fix worth the time and effort? Or is the effort required to the point that it’s better to not take a chance and just replace the tank now.

One of my grey tanks cracked at the same flange. Tried to fix it 2 different times....still developed leak. Ended up replacing tank using rubber coupling to allow some flexing.

Fernco is a rubber coupling with large hose clamps. Use them on sewer lines all the time.

Kevin, Dragging a 19K lb gross weight 5th wheel (42' long) with a 3/4 ton is an even bigger problem.
