Auto Awnings on new Cougars

Just talked to a friend who just bought a 30RLS Cougar 1/2 ton...I am looking at the 27SGS. He said he has had issues with the auto awnings not opening or at time not closing..Is this a issue with anybody else. Same awnings come with 27SGS..Wondering if this is a problem all around with the new awning or just a fluke.

We've never had an issue with ours on our 2018 Cougar 337FLS.

I did have an issue on the awning on my 338RLK. After a lot of trying many things, it turned out the battery was not fully charged. Got that taken care of and no more awning issues.

Disabling the Awning

We have a 2022 Keystone Cougar 27SGS with "In Command" is there a way to disable the awning from being used? Thanks!

probably has a dedicated 12 volt fuse in the electric panel inside or in the in·command circuit board location under the cover in your basement storage or wherever they mounted the in·command board

you could just put a keypad lock code on the in·command but fuse would work i imagine…don’t think it’s a hidden fuse anywhere

We can't lock the In-Command center, need it for the A/C. Also, pulled the fuse in the inside panel and the awning still worked.

If the awning is controlled through InCommand, there should be 2 relays on BCM. If you can find them, remove and voila.

found a schematic …may be a prior generation but wiring is likely the same. i’d verify though…if your afraid to pull the relays you could disconnect one power wire from each awning circuit

We had an intermittent issue with the rear awning on our ‘18 344mks. It would work/not work at times. Going in or out it would quit partially rolled in or out. I found where the wiring running up the the arm to the motor had a wiring connector pinched in a coupling for the awning arms. Loosened the connection, pulled the wiring about an inch further toward the motor to clear the connector, and no more problems. It was an annoying problem to figure out, but a super simple fix.

Mine's a short queen. We replaced mattress with a much better one from Denver Mattress when we lived in Colorado. It's now in its second trailer!
