Pointers on how to back a 5er
Well, not really, but spend a few minutes and watch this and recall your 'skill level' handling your 5er. Mine ain't so great in comparison (ignore their lead in and title though):

Dave, I could use a little of that skill. We're triple towing on the way to Florida as we speak. About 70 more miles and I won't have to worry about getting into a dead end.

When I was learning how to drive a semi. The old timer teaching me said "Back up till you hear glass!" and crawled into the sleeper. Practice is the only way to learn.

This was really helpful for me. I hope it helps others as well. I now feel that I could back in anywhere.

My advice is three-fold:
1) Have a spotter (a good one, they are not all the same!)
2) Invest in a simple walkie-talkie
3) Go really, really slowly.

As an ex-OTR owner-operator, I enjoyed the video. However, with one exception, all the shots were of cab overs with the tandems locked forward - tight maneuvers with a long nose Pete towing a 53' in similar situations would really challenge the best driver - believe me I know. The one posted re; CR England is really a decent tutorial. Good tips that can apply to our rigs.

trucker Lou: Good catch. I forgot to add "GOAL" and also, even with thousands of accident free "back-ins" under my belt, I always ASK for a "pull thru" site first. And, if you're a solo camper, don't be shy about asking your neighbor to spot you. Gives them something else to do besides sitting around watching you try to squeeze it in by yourself.
