Hydraulic Slide Problem

I have a 2021 Alpine 3700 FL and having a problem with the kitchen Hydraulic slides. When putting them out or in the slides stop and the all the power in the rig seems to go out and them the unit reboots up. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times to open or close. I have the Lippert hydraulic system and with the slides in but the jacks down the fluid level in the tank is way under 1/2 full. This may be the issue but manual doesn't say what type of hydraulic fluid to use. I called Lippert and they said it could be Dextron 3 or Mercon V but leave not up to Keystone to decide what to put into it. Will call them next week but was wondering if anyone has had this issue and what type of fluid or repair may be needed.
thanks

Welcome to the forum

First off you check the fluid level with everything retracted. Look for the large power wire from the battery to the pump. If probably goes through a 30 or 50 amp resettable breaker. The stopping is when the motor draws too many amps, and when the breaker cools off it starts working again. The fix:

Run wire from the positive post to a resettable 80A circuit breaker and then to the pump.

The cause of your issue is the factory 50 amp breaker that sends 12 volts up to the dual polarity solenoid and hyd pump motor.

Yank that factory 50 amp pit and install a quality 80 amp breaker..

Your problem will be solved,

The second there is a glitch on the 12 volt DC system the In Command Display and BCM trip offline and reset as well

https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd-0001896.pdf

Your existing wiring at the 59 amp breaker is ok to use the 80 amp breaker with

I have been using an 80 amp breaker on my 2014 Alpine since 2014. My hydraulic slides and leveling system operate with no issues ..even in 10 degree weather

Thanks for the responses, next trip out will run the generator while putting out the hydraulic slides. Does anyone know what type of hydraulic fluid the Lippert pump system uses as mine is way below 1/2 full that maybe (hopefully) is the cause?

I can assure you the fluid level IS NOT the issue.

As I stated before, check the fluid level with everything including the landing gear RETRACTED.
Here is a link discussing proper fluid:

https://www.etrailer.com/question-562480.html

You need to follow the previous advice regarding changing the circuit breaker.

I highly recommend you listen to Chuckster57.. And I suggest you quite wasting time with the fluid that is in the reservoir.

Read this PDF I wrote many moons ago and you will see the resettable breaker we are talking about. get one and replace the OEM 50 amp breaker and then you will not have any further issues.

Otherwise you will chase your tail till the cows come home ( and they won't) with the problem you are having..

Totally agree w/ both Chucks on swapping the circuit breaker!!
Then with 5er connected to the truck then you get ALL jack & slides retracted check the hydraulic fluid.
With all hydraulic systems retracted the fluid level in the reservoir should be within about a 1/2" from the fill opening, if not I'd recommend topping off with an anti stiction oil such 15w motorcycle fork oil or Cat anti stiction fluid. Google leveling system popping & creaking for the recommended fluids.

Thanks much will order the new breaker. We added 4 more batteries to the original 2 so I am assuming I should look for the breaker from the original 2 battery position.
Again thanks for the help

Also during the winter months the fluid is thicker therefore harder to move through the pump causing the pump to draw more amps and tripping the factory breaker, as recommended replace the factory breaker with what is recommended above

Received then new 80 amp circuit breaker same brand as suggested and hopefully will go out this weekend and replace the old one. Have a question just read in a post this same forum about the Redwood 5th slide wheel controller issue doing the same but the diagram shows Lippert Components shows reversing the connection for the bump and battery. Am I misreading this as I thought the connections it was supposed to remain the same?
thanks

The pump will turn CW or CCW depending on how you press the extend/retract button.

ChuckS thanks not sure what you mean by wiring either CW or CCW? I am assuming if connect the new breaker exactly as the old one should be ok?
thanks again for all your quick and helpful responses.

You’re going to replace the wire from the positive battery post to the old breaker and then to the solenoid.

When I do them, I usually use the original wire from the solenoid to the breaker and then fabricate the section from the new breaker to the battery positive post.

Okay still a bit confused, on the new 80 Amp circuit breaker one post is marked battery so that wire should go to the positive side of the battery. The other post is marked Aux and that wire should go to the pump. This should be the way the circuit breaker currently on the rig is wired, so no change?
thanks

The BAT terminal is obvious, and the AUX terminal is the side that goes to whatever you are powering, so BAT is in and AUX is out.
