Propane Quick Connect? - 2022 Cougar 25RDS

Does anyone know if there is a factory installed propane quick connect on a 2022 Cougar 25:RDS? A friend has a 2022 24RDS with one under the kitchen window on the undercarriage. I could not find one on mine (no surprise) so I installed one by removing the plug on a tee fitting next to the dump valves. Not the most convenient spot on the road side of the trailer, but a 25' hose makes it happen. Now I can run my Big Gas Grill or my Champion 4500 inverter/generator without hauling a spare tank.

I just spent a few hours with one tee, two flare couplers, a flare to ntp fitting, a 5 inch nipple, a 3/8 to 1/4 reducer, a new quick connect valve to add to my 22rds. I think adding on the road side was a better choice!

Be aware that the line you installed the QC connector to is regulated pressure, so unless the grill or generator uses about 11" WC pressure, you might not get either to work.

In simpler terms if the QD is on the regulated rv line the regulator on any device you connect will need its regulator removed.

Thanks. Yep, my Big Gas Grill and inverter generator work well hooked up to the Cougar's system. They both used external regulators that I dont need anymore

Working with propane to NPT fittings can be a PITA, but ACE hardware is my go-to spot for fittings. My local store has the best selection, so that you can make pretty much any situation work. I could have plumbed it to the door side with some gas pipe etc, but it was easier and probably cheaper in the long run to just use the long hose and quick connects from Amazon. Also eliminates another "something " hanging below the belly of the trailer.

I put a T with a valve on the curbside bottle & had a 25' hose made up by a local LP distributor, I could put my grill or fire pit, both had QDs, just about anywhere on our site we wanted & no modification to either grill or fire pit. When finished coiled the hose on top of the LP bottle.

I would note here that the output on mine is not rated for high flow devices either. I have a Camp Chef outdoor stove that has 2 30k btu burners, much higher than things like Colemans or Webers. I like to cook on a wok and that works much better. The output from the RV outlet will not put out the LP required to run them at full bore, they burn lazily with yellow flames. I put the Camp Chef on its own 20lb. tank and it really blasts big, hot, intense blue flames. The Weber, Coleman, Charbroil type grills work fine with 8k - 12k burners.

The LP Quick Connect could be anywhere along the right side of the camper, from front to rear bumper. Depending on where it was the cheapest and easiest for manf. to place it.
It could be low and back up under camper so you are on your knees to use it.
Usually has an on/off valve, and connect has a yellow rubber dust plug.
They seem yo enjoy hiding them!

I re-plumbed my brother-n-law camper where the disconnect is reachable without getting on your knees.

On my rig I put additional black pipe to get it higher clearance and have disconnect easily accessible through an access door I cut in and pop riveted in.

I like how that looks, very nice job! Any concern with the proximity to the wheels and being directly in line with them in the event of a tire blowout?

It’s in a higher, safer location than factory.
I did think about blowout and debris damage when changing it.
You can see the oops on my cut out for door, went over a bit.

My 2021 30RLS came with a Quick Disconnect at the right front, just behind the right side propane tank and it was already regulated and I was also getting the faint yellow flame. I just removed the regulator from my Weber Q1200 grille and re-plumbed it (keeping the control valve, of course) with brass fittings to the 20' hose adapter! Works awesome!
