Wear bar size

2017 Raptor 352TS kitchen slideout is bouncing when extending/retracting. Been told the wear bar is bad or likely installed poorly. Does anyone know the size. I can install rollers to help but I am not sure if it is a 1/2” or 3/4”. Any help is appreciated.

Pull the slide in about a foot and measure it down at the floor.

Who said the wear bar was bad/installed wrong? If the slide is jumping I would expect it to be the darco covering, seals, debris etc. before I thought of the wear bar unless it has had some sort of "accident".

All the research I have done and the opinions of many people point at the wear bar. Concensous is that they can get installed a bit crooked and it leads to uneven wear and then you get the bouncing. When I clean the bottom of the slide and spray it with dry lube it slides just fine until the lube wears off. It has never been in a kind of accident. Thanks for the info, I will measure it when I get home.

Is this an issue that has been there from the beginning, or just recently developed?

I know of one broken wear bar and recall one at least of screws backing out. Never heard of one installed "crooked" and even if it was can't see how it's going to cause your issue - it's still in contact with the bottom of the slide albeit at a bit of an angle. The material in the wear bar isn't "rough" or grabby unless it's dirty or the bottom of the slide is causing an issue for any number of reasons...and I've seen LOTS of those.

Rollers may or may not cure your problem but I would suggest you find out what the problem actually is first. If you spray lube on the bottom of the slide and it fixes it that points to the material on the bottom of the slide and not the wear bar. If the material on the bottom of the slide is not abraded, torn etc. you could install the rollers if that is your preference realizing that the rollers can cause issues of their own. IMO the easiest and best method is installing uhmw strips under the slide or slide skis depending on where the problem is.

Its not the wear bar, it's the darco. I just put Slide Ski's on my LR slide that drops for a flush floor. In the process of installing UHMW per ChuckS Darco Repair on my kitchen slide (that doesn't drop). Search "ChuckS Darco Repair" for instructions.

Our Voltage did the same thing from almost day one, we installed the rollers, very easy to do, there is a You Tube Video that you can find online, here are some pics of our install...

You may want to consider putting some thin metal strips for those rollers to roll on top the Darco fabric, once it shreds & wads up in your rollers, it won't take long with regular slide operation, you'll have a big job to repair.

I just completed the ChuckS UHMW repair (referenced above) today. Slide glides like it was on ball bearings.

Had same problem with my 2 living area slides. Took it to dealer for review. They cleaned the underside and wear bars, after jacking slide up. They then sprayed wear bars with graphite and now no problem. Once they explained it to me I can do it myself. Keystone Sprinter 2018 35ft.

Glad to hear you like the UHMW strips... My slides have been using this repair now for two years.. Not one issue with the strips.. the slides move in and out like butter ( hydraulic slides )... My BR slide is also hydraulic ( cradle frame ) with a hard plastic bottom covering..

If that covering ever cracks I will replace the entire bottom cover with either UHMW or HDPE...

Many Alpine owners are seeing issues with the BR slide ( non Darco covering ) cracking and falling apart, etc... The process they used apparently didnt fair well ( glue ) on the newer Alpines.. mine is older and they must have used a different adhesive..

While the rollers will work for awhile.. the first time one of those rollers binds up and don't rotate smoothly then it will immediately start to wreck havoc on that Darco covering... UHMS or HDPE strips ( thin ) attached onto the Darco the width of the roller plus a tad would absolutely prevent any damage even if the roller were to completely freeze up ( which it will some day)

Also the practice of using any sort of silicone spray, Graphite, etc on the wear bars or Darco covering just doesn't pass my logic test and is a stop gap feel good fix at best
