Speaker issues

We have a carbon 357. Each time I put our tv or radio on the sound is perfect. After about 1-2 minutes all sounds go away and you hear nothing. It doesn’t matter if it’s inside or outside speakers or the ones in the garage. Any hep would be great. The radio/dvd player has already been swapped out .

It almost sounds like a short in one of the speaker circuits and as the radio amplifier gets overloaded and starts heating up, it shuts down to protect itself.

When the speakers stop working, does the headphone jack still have an output? In other words, if you plug in a headphone set, can you hear anything? If so, it's not the "front end of the stereo, but the amplifier end".

Next, at the back of the stereo, disconnect all but one set of speakers and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then disconnect that set and try another set of speakers. If the sound does remain working, then add a set of speakers and test again. Sooner or later, adding a set of speakers will probably identify which wiring/speakers are the problem.

My guess is that it's either a bad speaker or a speaker wire with a staple or screw through it, grounding the system and causing a short.

How is the TV connected to the radio? Is it via the HDMI cable, a toslink or RCA cables? I ask because on our set up I have the TV inputting the radio via a fiber optic cable. Sometimes the sound will stop for no reason. If I turn the radio off then back on it will come back on. I also found that if I change the TV channel it will come back so it leads me to believe it may be the TV (Samsung) but it happens so infrequently I can't tell. Next spring I'll change out the fiber optic cable incase there's a break in it but not concerned about it now.

How did you get the tv connected to the stereo to use its speakers in the camper.

You add an RCA cable between TV audio out and sound system AUX in, then select AUX on the receiver.
