As a motorcycle rider, I absolutely hate those cables. Hit one on a 3 wheeler as a kid. Used to ride on logging trails in the woods behind my uncles farm Someone purchased the land and thought it’d be a good idea to string a cable across without anything to mark it. Also saw a motorcycle get sideswiped by someone who changed lanes and sent them into the cables. The rider instantly became more than one piece. Cables scare the hell out of me.

Many years ago when I was young I was deer hunting in the mountians in WV. I heard a snowmobile blasting up the logging road. The cable decapitated the rider. Wasn't a pretty sight. Those things aren't like the ropes in a baxing ring, they can be deadly.

OK......the cable, don't see how it cuts that far into the trailer, its pretty much a parallel angle

However, I wonder if that separation is a clue as to what caused the accident in the first place?

From my recollection of the picture (didn't look back) my thought is that the cables caught the frame/tires/suspension bringing the frame (bottom) to a halt which left the top heavy body, and those 5 bolts holding it, to just "detach"??

Hit a Mule Deer 200-250 lbs in rural Rocky Mountains in late afternoon in a Class C RV. Impact slightly right of center on RV, speed was about 35-40 when impact occurred. Shoved RF quarter panel into passenger door well, jamming passenger door. Antlers cracked windshield, lots of deer fur in radiator. No air bag deployment. Deer immediately got up from road shoulder and ran up the hill, too fast to count antler points. No injuries to occupants, both utilizing seat belts.

Damage to RV about $19,000 and 7 months to get repair parts. Still looking for a heavy duty grill guard, if the RV cosmetic body parts hadn't exploded into the radiator could have possibly driven away.

Hope the passengers are OK.

Front end doesn’t look bad enough to put the driver through the windshield. More likely one of the median poles from the cable fence. There good to keep you from crossing median into on coming traffic, but deadly for you at times.
