5th wheel hitch

Okay got the hitch in the new truck. But now with the tail gate open it is only a 1inch or so from the camper. I’m thinking of moving the hitch one hole back. What you guys think? The pic is where it is now. Click image for larger version

King pin of trailer should be about 1” forward of the rear axle when towing under ideal conditions.

You certainly want some space between tailgate and camper. Other wise you will damage both if you back in at an angle.

You’ll want to be sure that when the hitch slides back the kingpin doesn’t contact the tailgate.

One hole back PROBABLY won't make a difference in towing, but be careful. What Chuckster said is the accepted rule.
