Hydraulic Cylinder??

I have a 2019 Alpine 3800 FK looking for a cylinder for the living room slide.
Is there any way to locate and buy the cylinder without disassembling it first.
Called Lippert and they want info off cylinder in order to identify.

Check the paperwork that came with the trailer. Mine had a "build sheet" showing details (model numbers, SNs, ect..) for all components put into the trailer. You may find some way to identify that slide ram without removal/breakdown.
Good luck

If there is a hydraulics service center, a tractor repair center or a pneudraulics supply center anywhere near you, check with them. They will either be able to rebuild your current hydraulic actuator or order you a new one. They will also "need the actuator in hand" to know which one to order or what parts to have on hand to rebuild.

It was Keystone, not Lippert that selected the size rams for your particular trailer model. Lippert built the chassis, supplied the various size hydraulic systems, but Keystone is the "engineering center" that determined if a particular trailer model would have 24", 36" or 42" slide travel... Keystone is the one who "selected what size actuators" went into the trailer. Otherwise, if they'd have built them all with the same hydraulic system, when you extend the 24" slide (with the 42" actuator on the slide), once the slide hits the end of travel, the actuator will "push it out of the trailer another 18", crushing the trailer sidewall or poking a hole in the slide.....

It's Keystone you need to talk to about "which particular hydraulic components are in your trailer, but the "best bet" is to find a local repair center, take the actuator out of the trailer and hand deliver it to them for rebuild. Cost is around $100-150. A new actuator is typically $500 and up.

I could not agree more with what John said. Seeping hydraulics is no hill for a climber.
First, call https://dshydraulics.com/ They're right down the road from you!

You will need the length of that slide cylinder to order the correct PN for your year Alpine..

Links to look at…

https://www.trekwood.com/products/11...luminum-342328

https://www.trekwood.com/products/11...luminum-354180

Also… these slide cylinders are welded together on the ends during assy… I do not believe you will be able to filed repair..

The hyd levelers are repairable in the field…

I gather them slide cylinder is leaking at the end of the piston rod? If so have you verified the JIC fittings on the cylinder itself or lines aren’t leaking and weeping down the end of the cylinder?

Image I’ve attached is one of two hyd cylinders on my Alpine .. you can see the assy is welded on the end caps…

It’s not a hard job to accomplish

My older Alpine cylinders are a tad different then the newer units..they are aluminum cylinders

Second image from a friend of mine replacing his leaking slide out cylinder…his are the shiny aluminum color…on the cylinder is a decal tag with the info you will want to use to order the right cylinder

Cylinder

Attempted to purchase on Trekwood but their policy and procedure to make purchase was very strange. in any case got one on Amazon without any issue's
The current ram/actuator has a part number label on cylinder. My living room unit nearest the front door is #342328 and no it isn't rebuildable. Has the end caps swaged on cylinder.

Probably best!
The shipping from Trekwood would probably been near what you paid for the rv!!! They are ridiculously high on their shipping charges.

Yes that's my fault for not stating "DO NOT buy from Trekwood" unless you have to... I was using their website links to show you the various lengths of those slide cylinders...

When you get the new one installed then you will need to cycle the slides in and out about 3 to five complete cycles to purge the air out of the line and system
*** BE SURE to let that hyd pump motor cool for several minutes after the 2nd or 3rd cycle

And you will need to top off the reservoir with fluid once you can get the rig hooked up and get levelers retracted so you can make an accurate fluid level check.

For Fluid if its Red then its ATF and if clear or light honey color its AW32 hyd fluid.

Cylinder

Thanks for the clarification Chuck and the heads up on the procedure and type of fluid. On the bottom covering I cut width wise so I can reattach to frame and plan on using black gorilla tape. Any suggestions on that?

Glad you got a good price on the new cylinder and with regards to the corplast reseal clean the surface off where you are gonna apply the tape with alcohol and then apply... I am not fond of regular gorilla tape...

The preferred repair is usually scrim tape BUT I was out of it when I replaced a 28 foot hyd extend line to my main slide outs so I tried another type of Gorilla tape.

It has been in place now for 4 months and I have towed on wet roads and such and see no evidence of it coming loose...

This is what I used.....

Note - the Gorilla wet tape I posted about is almost like eternabond tape so make sure you have it lined up where you want it because once it touches the surface it is stuck in place

Which do you prefer the Gorilla or scrim tape? I found both on Amazon
I've used the the regular Black Gorilla tape for gap seals on one of my airplanes never came off flew it for 2 years at 100 mph.

Glad you got it repaired with out too much hassle... The newer aluminum colored cylinders don't seem to be as reliable as the older style in my 2014 Alpine... That said the replacement should last a long while
