Another Furnas Question

Ok so I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. To say I'm computer challenged, well compared to him I'm a friggin wizz ! Anyways here we go... working on a 2016 Impact with a Atwood model AFMD35121 furnace. Issue being it will run fine on shore or gen-set power but not 12v. Have already replaced the "sail" as will as the high limit switch's. Bat's are new this season & have 13.2 volts with no draw. I'm still leaning with a bat issue. He doesn't have an amp meter to ck that while its under load. Any thoughts / ideas are always helpful.

Load test the batteries, separately. If the batteries are 12V, are the trailer leads on the same battery?

If the furnace "runs fine on shore power" but not on battery power, the only "changes in power source" is the battery/batteries and the wiring from them to the power center 12 VDC distribution panel with all the fuses. There are two wires from the batteries, one goes to ground the other goes from the batteries through the battery cutoff switch and to the positive lug on the fuse panel.

So, if it works on shore power, the only thing it can be is something from the battery to the fuse panel on that "single wire" or something with the ground "at the battery".

Make sure they are wired correctly to obtain 12V going to the trailer.

Battery A positive to Battery B negative.

Trailer positive to battery B positive
Trailer negative to battery A negative.

If it runs on shore power & generator then it's being powered by the converter, once disconnected it doesn't run it has to be battery related.

Furnas

Follow up to my friends issue, just caust you have "new" batteries don't make them good,,, Loaned him my load tester, yep the old toaster type but hay it works, instructed him to disconnect batteries from the trailer & each other (2 - 6 volts) and to test each alone. Both started good (green) after test nether recovered (yellow) fulley. advised him to charge both (overnight slow trickle charger) he did. Performed a follow up ck the next day and only 1 battery recovered fully from the load test (green). 2nd one failed again (yellow). Just goes to show new doesn't always mean good. Thanks for all the input!

Glad you got it fixed. Years ago had a customer that got 3 bad batteries brand new in a row for his car.
