Heat Strip

We have the remote control thermostat in our 309efs fifth wheel cougar. How can we tell if we have the heat strip or not? Inside the back of the remote it has small toggle like switches which you can adjust to use a heat strip. We have wanted to try and change it to see if it works but do not want to mess up anything if we don't have it. Any suggestions?

The heat strip is optional - if it were installed the thermostat would be programed to operate it. The strip can be added to the a/c unit. I had one in my last trailer .... it worked fairly well but a small portable heater is much quieter and in my opinion more efficient. Before you move any "dip-switches" in your remote be sure to note the original positions. They must match the receiver in the A/C control.
Hope this helps, Hank

Thanks Hank. We normally use a portable heater anyway. Think we will leave the remote alone. Really fast responses and enjoying this great site.
