Zero G Water Hose

Anyone use this hose? Says safe drinking hose. However I still get a plastic taste when using it, I also have a water filter on it. I originally had the white hose, but was a bear to wind up, so I went with this hose.

I switched to the ZeroG blue hose for a couple of trips. Plastic taste was horrible so we switched back to the white hoses and all tastes nice again.

Nice idea to have a hose that packs up small but the taste test lets it down. Threw mine away.

We use a Zero G hose but have a drop in cannister filter in line and use a Pur water pitcher for coffee and drinks (lemonade, etc.). No after taste I can tell.

Saw a YouTube video somebody said they've tried the blue one through online purchase three times or so and all leaked, went to the store and purchased a black one that is much more robust and has worked well for them.

I use the Camco white hoses and am happy with them overall. I did have one or two that the brass fitting split between the threads and leaked, but they roll up easily and fit in a tote in the pass through just fine.

I don't have a high opinion of those type hoses. Like 1/2 ton towable the advertisement saying it's safe to drink from it is likely Chineese information. It's like "reduced fat" or other similar claims that warranty scrutinizing IMO. Often cheaply made hoses will make the claim just because there's no lead in the fittings.

I use 5/8" Never Kink brand hoses. They are going on 10 years now and going strong. They can be a handful to roll up but here's what I did. I bought 12" velcro straps and placed one on each end of the hose. When I go to store the hose I'll disconnect each end and let them rest off of the ground. Start winding it up at one end while wiping down the exterior with a clean cotton rag. After making 2 loops I use the strap to hold the loose end. Then continue rolling the hose and wiping it until reaching the other end. Then wrap that end strap to hold it while screwing the ends together.

I've got a blue one and black one that I use at the house and the RV's. No taste issues but I rarely drink water straight or on the rocks. I use the $20 Blue filter from WalMart. Also, a Brita filter pitcher.
I think for it to be drinking safe it can't have brass or bronze fittings and no BPA. But I've ingested enough pure BPA powder to kill a horse.

An ounce or 2 of good whiskey usually mellows the rubber tire flavour!!

Brass, copper, bronze are OK as long as they aren't soldered together with lead.

I use the zero G ( bought two, one leaks so it’s a backup), but can’t say I’ve ever drank the water from it to see if there’s a taste. Maybe I’ll try it on this trip.

I use the Zero G hoses at home but not for drinking. Their Aluminum ends have all corroded and I need to replace them. Has anyone here ever replaced the ends on these? I assume I can just use 1/2" plastic or brass like any other hose.

All experienced campers have seen trailers flood and the truck that brought the camper away from the slot. The trailer will be locked and best that can be done is to shut off the water. This is what an experienced camper with some sense would do if they knew the RV wasn't occupied. The ones with no sense will stand there and admire the lake that is forming under the camper. I personally don't have an problems with shutting off the city water tap when we pull out to go to a movie or restaurant or am dragged through the Walmart and are not in the trailer.

We use the Camco 5/8” premium rv freshwater drinking hose and have been happy with it. Going on 5 years and no problem and no taste.

Yes, as long as it's from Bourbon County KY you are safe and protected. Makers Mark has a beautiful distillery. Take a tour.
Just remember...Jack Daniels is not bourbon; and of course neither is Crown Royal. However Crown Royal Rye Whisky is good stuff and won "Whiskey of the Year" recently.

I want to know also! We also have a ZeroG hose, and used on the coast, no corrosion issues.

My yard hoses are the black Zero-G hoses with aluminum ends IIRC purchased at Lowes. Both are always connected to the brass hose bibs in the yard, with an adjustable spray nozzle at the other end. I had to disconnect them recently and had to use channel locks to separate them. Lots of white corrosion buildup and the threads are, well, hosed.
We have fairly hard water here. Looking into it further, aluminum and brass are not compatible on the galvanic corrosion chart. These hoses should have brass or plastic ends.

I did buy a cheapie knockoff (at Grocery Outlet of all places)with plastic ends to use in the trailer but not for drinking water. Its nice and lightweight and compact.

@rhagfo Are your hose ends aluminum or brass? maybe they have changed them for the better. Mine are at least a few years old now.
