Harbor Freight boondock option

might be a nice option for smaller trailers or for home emergency use

Funny how they call a solar panel and battery a “generator”. I think it kind of stretches the definition.

In California at least, it will soon be the only generator you can buy though.

Depends on what source you use for definitions. Traditionally it was a device used to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. Also a device used to produce a gas, like a boiler converts heat energy to turn water into steam. Now days the definition has been expanded to include solar. Defenitions,, meanings, implications change in any "living language". That's why the legal and medical professions use Latin. It's a "dead" language so the mdefenitions don't change.

It was a tongue in cheek statement. A generator is obviously anything that produces something; an investment property is an income generator, a water wheel is a power generator, apply power to water and you generate hydrogen, split oxygen molecules and they bind to other oxygen molecules to create ozone (ozone generator).

However, in terms of RV-ing and what we think of as a generator in the traditional sense, that solar set-up is a bit of a stretch. Maybe it’s the wave of the future, but I can see some newbie buying this “generator” thinking they can run everything they want for an extended period of time off the grid.

Understood, I don't consider them a viable source for boondocking either. Probably great for an outing at the beach or whatever but don't expect to run your a/c unit with it.
