Just kidding, but I bet the issue is the brake controller. If you cant configure the integrated brake control, I would install a Prodigy P3 and use it.

Oh boy. I had the problem last year. I traced wires, looked at fuzes, changed trailer wiring, changed truck connections and plugs. I finally found out that our truck has a brake controller module up under the spare tire. I got one from amazon and it has been good for about a year now. This is a known issue with GM but they won’t publish it for a fix or a recall.
At one point I was looking at replacing the rear wiring harness. Oh heck no. The only way to replace it is the entire frame wiring harness. Only a couple thousand to have that done. Glad I found out about the controller.

Just a FYI. We had a 2011 Sierra 3500 and it is super common for the stock trailer brake controller to go bad. It's frame mounted near the spare tire. Just Google it on the GM truck forums and you will realize just how bad it is...even guys who don't tow will have the fault code on their trucks. I think it's $30 or more now for a new one. Some have cleaned the ground wire nearby and fixed it. Others have replaced the controller.
It's a horrible design choice.
Your 2015 even tho the body is different, has the same underside as our 2011 was. They didn't redesign much anything between body styles. The body and cab electronics PKG is really the only difference.

💯, GM will not issue a recall or fix it. Just like their oil consumption on early 5.3's, just like the CP4.2 failures on their LML Duramax's, etc
I've left GM for these reasons alone. And refuse to go back until they own their mistakes.
Just think the wonders they will do in the EV market. 😂

Brakes are fixed with the Hyrastar HBA-CAM.
I would like to also thank you all for the suggestion of a bigger tow vehicle. Bought a 2020 Gmc 3500 denali dually. [emoji16]
Of course it had the same brake issue but it the HBA-CAM fixed it as well.

Good choice on the tow vehicle!
That Duramax/Allison combo is tough to beat for towing.
Have had 2 dually GMCs with that combo for a total of 300+k miles towing a couple different 5ers weighing in at 16.5k each for about 50%+ of those miles, never more than very minor issues most of which were warrantied.
You've greatly increased your towing experience by 100% over the 2500.

Congrats on the new truck!
Now go to the ""user CP" in the black bar, then to "edit signature" then add the make, model & year of your rv & tow vehicle, drop down to "save changes", now this info will appear on every post so you won't have to be constantly be ask "what vehicle/rv" when asking questions.
