I have checked most everywhere and they are all out of stock.
2 days ago amazon had one in stock, I should have bought it but it was right at the very beginning of my research and wasn't 100% sure.
Oh well, if nothing pops up in the next few days, I will give that one I linked too above a whirl.

On a side note, is it worth "upgrading" the hoses to these at the same time

The ebay unit appears to be the flameking. HomeDepot listed it for a lot less, but most likely will say out of stock after I fill out the order.

The flame king is on the Keystone approved list for warranty replacement, and it’s a direct fit replacement. I changed mine in about 8 minutes including getting my tools out and putting them away after

So thankful for this forum. Went to the TT tonight to replace our floor vents with stronger metal vents (oem we're cheap metal that bent when a kid stepped in the middle), and thanks to seeing this thread, decided to take a spray bottle with soap/water. Never noticed a drastic drop in our propane levels, nor did I smell a leak.. however, turned on propane and sprayed my mixture. Found a leak quickly. Put my ear close and could actually hear the leak and could easily smell propane. Replacing both the 2-stage and the pigtails. Leak must have happened on last trip when DM used stove...just coincidence. I saw a big propane drop but thought the 2-hr cobbler in the stove used more propane than I thought. Now I know why. Thx again guys.

For what it's worth, I replaced the OEM with Flame King and it works well. I turned on all propane appliances at once and all seemed to function correctly. As someone above noted, Flame King is on the Keystone approved replacement list. I'm sure there are "better quality" units than a flame king, but, when I bought, none of them were in stock and I needed it replaced "now."
Just my two-cents.

Had my old rig 20 years, never had a leak. Had our new Cougar less than two years, both pigtails were cracked and hissing, needed replacing. Never had a problem with the regulator, but got it replaced anyway, and it came with yet another set of new pigtails. Probably not as good as my original replacements, I'm going to have to remember to check.

Replaced my regulator today, ordered the flame king on Amazon just shy of $40 with the pigtails already installed. Used some blue monster thread sealer(pipe dope)on the male pipe thread . Since the pigtails were already installed on the unit install only took about 25 to 30 minutes including parking, opening the toolbox ,running around looking for the paper towels to get pipe dope off my hands before I ruined my clothing, testing for function and leaks.

What Blue Monster product did you use? To my knowledge, only their tape products are rated for propane. I don't know of any dope-type products that are. The instructions on all my gas fittings say to use tape and not dopes.

Blue monster at Lowes for $8.47
I worked for a few months doing gas station install and service. We usually used Gasoila thread compound and this stuff seems very similar to that. I do know to keep it off of your clothing it will ruin a good pair of pants. As it doesn't wash out.

i’ve had my gas fitters license for over 30 years and i’ve almost never used tape..i think you will find most plumbers, gas fitters and hvac guys use a appropriate pipe dope for either lp,oil or natural gas.
usually when i run across teflon tape in the field i can almost guarantee it wasn’t professionally installed….it’s not to say that it shouldn’t be used but almost never is.
Tape also has a tendency to tear when tightening and small pieces can get into the pipe itself…heating oil furnaces will deny warranty’s if tape is used and they find it in the pump.
it needs to be installed properly to avoid any issues.

Rectorseal 5 is another gas/propane rated pipe dope. The gas side of the utility I worked for used this exclusively for all their threaded gas connections.

Agree completely Bob. When I replaced my regulator and pig tails, I used this from Amazon. No issues in past 6+ months.
