AC issue

2022 Montana HC 295rl. The AC on the heat pump only works on low. If I set the AC to high, the return air temp immediately returns to the room temp, turn it to low AC, and it drops to 20 degrees below room temp. The heat side of it works fine. I'm thinking it may be a wire not crimped somewhere. Any ideas?

If the temp is good on low and not on hi, I don’t think it’s a wiring issue. Can you hear if the compressor is engaging with the fan in hi?

As a rule fan hi/lo is a seperate function from AC compressor.

I climbed up on the roof while the wife changed the settings. The compressor is turning off when switching to Hi.

Ok, that’s not good obviously. Im thinking either thermostat or control board. What brand of AC and thermostat? Model # of thermostat?

Pretty sure it's a Airxcel 9630-3361, and the 15k coleman heat pump 48009-9660.

I was able to talk with an AC tech at Airxcel. He's pretty convinced that I've got two wires plugged in wrong on the control board. He gave me pretty specific instructions on how to check them. I'll try and get that done and post my results afterwards in case someone else has the same issue.

Just saw your post. I did have a wire that needed to be switched. But bigger and more bazar, the original thermostat was broke, and the new micro-air thermostat was broke also. FINALLY, Micro-Air sent me another thermostat and the system started working correctly.

Make sure the wiring is correct and then check the thermostat. Good Luck.
