Access to rear basement

Hello. I have a 316RLS. How do I gain access to the rear basement area? The wall devider panel seems to be screwed in from the back. I want to check on the heat ducting.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re talking about accessing the back portion of the front basement storage where the furnace, water heater and much of the wiring and plumbing is run. I’ve never seen one with walls screwed in from the backside. Everyone I’ve seen has screws around the perimeter of the walls inside the pass through area. Sometimes there is a piece of trim that holds them in. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the storage area in a Cougar. I’d check real close. Hopefully someone else will jump on here and provide better info for you.

I'm trying to access the area behind that. Under the kitchen/living room area. There is a panel there with no sign of how to open it.

That is your underbelly. There isn’t an internal access to that area, you have to drop the colorplast from underneath the rv.

On our Cougar, the separating panel that forms the rear wall in the passthrough is stapled "from the backside" also. Along the edge of that panel is a 1x1 frame. The luan is "stapled to the frame" and then the frame is screwed to the trailer passthrough structure.

Look along the edges of that rear passthrough wall and I think you'll find the screws that hold the wall frame to the trailer sidewall. On mine, there are 4 screws holding up the entire panel and they are on the "inside flat surface" of the wall frame. In this photo you can see the brown 1x1. The screws are in it, pointing to the trailer sidewall.

John, that’s what I’d was initially taking to him about, but if understand him correctly, he’s already beyond that wall and trying to get into the area back under the living room.

That should be the underbelly as mentioned. It will have the water tanks, heating ducts and lots of wires.

In my case that's the other side of this

The reason I'm trying to get in there is because our kitchen island water lines froze up during the winter. Our lol point drains are in that area. And suggestions on how to deal with this?

Best bet is to lower the coroplast in that area or cut a 3 sided plug out of the coroplast in the area you need.. just make sure that the side you leave attached is toward the front of the trailer...

That’s what I would do. Cut the colorplast and open a flap for inspection. You can get colorplast tape to repair the inspection hole. It’s about $1 per foot.
