2016 gmc sierra 1500 traction control vs stability control while towing a trailer
Do turn off traction control and stability control or what combination?

I have towed with 2012, 2017, and 2021 GM trucks. I have never turned off traction/stability control and have myself never heard that recommended. I do not tow off road.
Happy towing!

Use the tow/hual mode of the transmission only. With a 30' 7k GVW trailer you maybe running up against the limitations of a 1/2 ton truck. The tongue weight with the hitch may be a 1,000 lbs or more. In your picture your truck has a cap on the bed which adds weight to the bed thus reducing your available payload. The ONLY way to know where you are is by weighing the rig loaded when you are going camping.

You may be asking because you already know this, but Blue Ox is one of the weight distribution hitch manufacturers that recommends turning off factory anti-sway systems. I believe the GM Stabilitrak system has a sway control component.
This from the SwayPro manual:
For all truck models with factory sway control, it is suggested that the sway control be disabled for the best performance of the Blue Ox® SwayPro™.
This pops up from time to time on the Ford forums I read. Some swear by it, others poopoo it, but it is recommended by the manufacturer.

I have not turned them off ether, I heard that the Fords recommended that you turn off traction control with a WD hitch. So wasn't sure if GMC does.

Agreed, after cat scales we tow with an empty bed and empty fresh water tank.

I did read that in the manual for Blue Ox. We leave soon and will try turning off Stabilitrak this time and see if it makes a difference or not.

Are you having any "issues or problems" when towing? Or, is this just to clarify "switchology settings" ?????
I didn't see where there's a problem that needs to be solved, just a question about whether to turn off a truck feature during towing. Is there a problem that you encountered when towing? If so, what was the truck switch settings when the problem occurred ???

I have not had any issues towing with both on. However reading the Blu Ox manual and seeing some posts on the Fords needing it to be turned off.
I was questioning the best way to tow with my set up.
