2018 Gmc can pull?

A 2018 GMC Sierra short bed, crew cab, 5.3L, 6 speed transmission, trailering package. 3.42 rear axle ratio.

What can it tow?

Thanks

I guess this is a half ton? You didn't mention payload which is on the yellow/white placard in your drive door frame. This is one of the critical numbers needed. Without know this number, a guess would be the 23' to 26' bumper pull type camper but that is only a guess. You will also do well to add LT tires if your truck is equipped with P rated tires.

Please post a picture of the Tire & Loading Information sticker found on the drivers side door pillar. This sticker will indicate your truck's cargo carrying capacity (payload). That will likely be your limiting factor with a 1/2 ton truck. With that some calculating can be done to see where you stand.

Here is an example of the sticker I'm referring to:

We need to differentiate between “tow” and “capability to safely tow xxxxx camper”.

We all watched a Toyota Tundra “tow” the space shuttle at 300,000 lbs. We need to know your vehicle’s cargo capacity from the door sticker, and how many people and how much stuff that you intend to carry in or on the truck that did not come installed from the factory. Plus are you looking at a “bumper” pull or 5th wheel.

It doesn't really matter what it can "tow/pull", what can it "carry"?
As already been pointed out look at that yellow/white tag on the drivers door for the pertinent numbers for that truck & you won't find how much it can "tow" there.
Depending on what rv your looking at, if that's a 1/2 ton you won't find but a small hand full of small 5th wheels that your truck can handle the pin weight regardless if it's called "1/2 ton towable", BTW that's a sales gimmick.
If you plan to keep that truck, find the payload number on the door jamb, from that subtract the tongue/pin weight of the rv calculated using the GVWR of the chosen rv, 13% for TTs & 23% for 5th wheels,100-200lbs for the weight of the hitch, the weight of everyone/everything in/on that truck, this will give a very good estimate what size rv you maybe searching for that your truck is capable of handling.

What is needed is the "weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed" from the sticker. We had the same truck, the cargo capacity was 1,750 pounds. It was ok for a 5,400 pound (empty weight) Passport Super Light but there were a few times i felt the tail wagging the dog. Took possession of a 2022 GMC 2500 HD last month with more than double that cargo capacity and won't look back! Now the GVWR of the truck is more then the fully loaded trailer. As a bare minimum upgrade the tires to LT and listen to the group, they have been there, done that and are just lookin gout for the safety of you and your loved ones.

Sadly, no one can tell you what you can pull since you have not provided the needed information. Good luck... checking out on this thread.

That number really doesn't matter unless you've weighed your truck as if you're going camping & subtract that scaled weight from that 7200lbs to get the actual payload for carrying a rv.

Thank you very much GRKI. You have confirmed my thoughts. Have a 4900lb Passport Ultra Lite and it does pretty well. Have thought about a newer truck F150 Lariet and 1800lb more weight rv. Still have concerns that anything bigger than what I have is going to take a 2500. Thank you very much for your kind reply.

As has been discussed the payload is one "hard NTE number" but the second major factor hasn't been addressed yet and that's the wind sail area. What that means is dragging a large slab sided trailer down the road is completly different than say a low boy flat bed with a bobcat excavator. A trailer that's 11' + tall and over 25' long will have a lot of sail area for the wind to push on. A passing large truck or bus, or a heavy side wind can push the trailer to the point that the lightweight 1/2 ton truck suspension simply cannot effectively deal with.

If your needing a truck upgrade skip the 3/4 ton & go with the SRW 1 ton. Size, ride, mpg relatively the same as the 3/4 ton at very little more $$ but considerably more payload for any future rv upgrades.
