Replace back-flow valve?
Done a bunch of research about this and cannot find a definitive answer. Many posts on how to and why, but my question is, should I preemptively bypass my back flow valve under the sink? I hear that they WILL leak within a year or two and I would like to avoid any water damage.
I have the new elbows and connectors and went out to do this yesterday but then changed my mind before I cut.
Is it that bad of a design that it needs to go now, or should I just keep the tools handy and wait?
Gut says go back out and remove.
Only one I could find is in the rear lav under the sink. Nothing under the other 2 sinks or shower…that I could find anyway. Shouldn’t there be one for each set of black tanks?

It will leak, it is just a matter of time. Here is what I did, several others have done something the same or similar. Not one single issue since I replaced it. I was able to just screw the connector to the main pipe, no cutting of pipe needed.

Actually I have seen your vid. I was just planning to cut the pex and use an elbow and swedge it together. Might just make a home depot run instead.

Lowe's has a brass anti-siphon valve with half inch fittings. It's configured the same as the RV type, so it's just a matter of getting the two fittings to screw into the valve and installing it under your sink. While that's still no "absolute guarantee against any leakage", I've had this under my sink for 5 or 6 years with no issues. I do remove it every winter when I put the trailer in storage just to make sure there's no water left in the lines to "surprise me in the spring"... Some Lowe's stores carry it in stock, some only have it "special order. It's also available on Amazon for the same $17.

Bypassed it was an elbow similar to above.

Awesome. Mine has been installed for 6 months and has not leaked a drop. Plus noone has died from sewage backflow lol

There should be one for every external black tank flush connector on your trailer, and you should be able to figure out where they are hidden by noticing where each outdoor flush connector is located.

My rear back flush is on the opposite side of the trailer where the valve I replaced is. My forward one would be close to the same for my forward lav, but I cannot find the valve. Not behind the flush nor the forward lav…under sink or shower btw.
Wondering if it was nit installed maybe?

I don't know your trailer but I do know that sometimes they place those things in weird places to me. I think one of the members has mentioned something about theirs being in a wall. Our friends from MI bought a new Big Horn and we met in FL. Theirs malfunctioned and a mobile tech actually cut out a section of a storage area wall to remove and fix it. I hope yours is easier to find and repair.

It would not be under the shower. The anti-siphon valve needs to be installed "above the water level in the toilet". So, it's either under the vanity or in the shower wall, behind the faucets, where the shower faucet plumbing is run.
On some trailers, rather than cut the living room wall (the shared wall between the bath and the living room, some people will locate the two water lines going to the A-S valve in the wall, cut those PEX tubes and pull the A-S valve down, into the basement, repair/replace or eliminate the valve and then either replumb a "straighter and shorter run to the nozzle or replace the valve and push that "contraption" back up the wall space and use two PEX unions to reattach the cut lines.
