New 3500 HD Dually

Well after reading here last year about overloaded 3/4 ton trucks I went and weighed my Chevy 2500. Yup, Was about 800# over the 10,000# max.
We still went camping locally, nice and easy like, until the end of the season.
Started my search for an upgrade last fall. Used prices were pretty high on diesels.
I figured that I could just get by with a 1 ton single axle TV with a little extra capacity.
However with GM's February incentives I decided to go big and get the 3500HD Dually diesel. Brought it home yesterday, sure is long and wide!

Now to plan some long trips!

Congrats on that new TV and to the Dually Family. You are set to go now, I am sure you will notice the difference when you hookup on that first trip

Be Safe and Happy Camping

You say it's long does that mean you got the crew cab? If so you'll enjoy the ride the long wheelbase gives you

Congratulations on the TV, it may seem long and wide, but you will soon get use to it. DW and I full time now with a 2016 Ram 3500 LB DRW. I did a comparison of the old 2001 Ram 2500 Quad Cab Long with the new 2016 Ram Crew Cab DRW and was about 18" longer and wider at the hips.

Thanks, Yes we got the Crew cab and of course the 8 foot bed.
Our old 3/4 ton was a short bed and an extended cab.
Had to do a bit of re-arranging to park it in the garage.
Good thing it's 30 foot deep!
We can't wait for spring, around here it will be in May sometime though

Congrat's on the new ride! Make sure Momma is comfortable with it as a daily driver and then everything will settle in normally.

I have the same camper. Bought it new in 13. Pulled it with a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500hd for the past 5 years. I too was over the GVWR but was under the axle rating. Really towed good and never felt unstable but the truck was getting some age on it so I upgraded back in November. Really looked hard for a 3500 single wheel but couldn't find one I liked. Ended up with a dually.

It isn't true without photo evidence!

Will be a bit before uncovering the camper, still has snow on it, but here's the truck safely tucked in until the road salt is washed away!

Great truck that will last a long time if cared for. I’d yank the original synthetic gear lube out of the rear differential after about 5K miles and replace with Amsol severe duty synthetic gear oil...

Beautiful truck.

Beautiful truck! You'll find there's a world of difference in towing, ride & power over your older Dmax. Congratulations!

Congrats. You'll love the DRW for towing.

Sweeeat truck. We converted to DRW a few months ago. No regrets (except for the mortgage payments). Finally realized how far overweight we were on our F250. It towed great but CAT scales don’t lie. DRW is awesome when towing but no joy to park around town. Broke my arm last week and DW is getting schooled on how to park May be the biggest threat to our 31yr marriage

Beauty! That's the exact truck I've been drooling over for the last month. I'd love to upgrade my 2500HD for this one but the finances currently say no way. Maybe in a year or two.

Congrats!

It’s like night and day. You’ll forget she’s even back there which is not always a good thing because you’ll tend to speed up but the control is awesome.

Getting anxious now that we have a few days in the 50's.
Installed a new B&W hitch and Raptor step rails so far.

Love my B&W hitch and the step rails will help. I was going to ask you about that step stool in the picture.

I hear you about the snow. Home base is in souther Adirondacks and we won't go home till May.

We are not a north as you but are still planning the same idea in two years, 4 months in sunny Florida and return home when the snow is gone. Can't wait
