I think it's a 'my truck is bigger than your truck' thing. But yeah, just be prepared for it.
Mine might be on the taller side as another commenter with a crew cab just like mine was almost an inch shorter due to it's weight and lesser payload. Mine is a supercab mid optioned Lariat.

I will say I was a bit surprised at the lack of height difference between our 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 and the new to us 2016 Ram 3500 DRW 4x4. The 2016 has been a great TV for the last four years.
