Winter is here!!

This is my second year in the winter in Ohio. No I am not a Buckeye. Here is my 2 cents .. I use a Pirit heated hose, put loose fill insulation in my outside grill helps allot. Also I notice around my windows the frame is not tight to the walls so I siliconed around all windows. Helps with winds coming in. I have a PVC poop pipe with heat trace on it. Went around the hole camper and spray foamed all holes in the floor with pipes going threw them. Skiting I used 2x4's and 2 inch foam board. On cold days a 1000 watt light helps under the camper. I have a ceramic heater inside. Today I took off trim around main door and filled with spray foam and put the trim back on. About a 1 1/2 inch space all around the door with no insulation in it. Used 1 inch foam under my front storage between supports. Helps not going to bed with cold sheets. GO BLUE AND GREEN AND WHITE : )

Flannel Sheets

We use flannel sheets and pillow cases. Use an electric blanket to pre warm the bed. Works great. Hard to get up in the morning Smell of fresh brewing coffee helps a lot....man, retirement is tough.

OK, why not keep the electric blanket going? Simply safety concerns. We all have choices and we choose "off" and unplugged when sleeping.

Enjoy.....

RGF911, Howdy;

Had 2 of those Prirt hoses last winter (bought mine on Amazon). First one quit in a weeks time. Called the Company and they jerked one off the truck to some store and overnighted it to me. That one lasted for 3 monthes before it melted itself. Think it forgot to turn itself off one day.
Went back to a white hose with heat tape and foam insulation.

When it's 50°F and your walking around in a fur coat and ear-muffs we'll see whose laughing then. (No hate, just envy) Enjoy the sunshine, Hank

Steve,

How cruel you are to a former So. Florida girl.....

It is 29 degrees here now. Getting ready to fire up the fire place.

Not sure when I will get south again, but I can't wait!

Howdy All;

Kinda agree with SAABDOCTOR, about easier to warm than cool.

One can always throw on another layer...
however ...one can only take but so much off...

that however, can prove to be interesting though

keeping a 'sunny' attitude;

hank

I'm sorry but slicing limes beats splitting logs every time.

I would much rather be on a Gulf beach, in a lawnchair, with an ice cold beer. Than by a fireplace, in a rockingchair, with a warm blanket.

And you don't have to shovel sunshine.

Any guesses where I wish I was?????

Ohhhhh Bull SHEET

Opps, made an error on the "flannel" sheet comment the other day. We use "fleece micro fiber" sheets (look and feel like flannel, without scratching) for warmth. Available from JC Penny at $24.99. Sleep like a baby...wake up every 2 hours crying....(not). Hard to crawl out of bed on those 30 degree mornings! Hot coffee aroma helps, a LOT....

Outbackmel, Howdy;

Thanks for the correction.
Easy mistake to make .....
Especially if you've just crawled out from between them.

Cold here in Southwest Michigan but no problems other than the hot tub is still not repaired but soon. This is our second winter in the Alpine and 3rd in this spot. I know for sure heat tape is one of those things that you learn to spend money on the good stuff. I have 50 year round spots to take care of and I think I'm finally getting rid of the cheap ones. one of our full timers left a full 250 gallon tank of propane and a trip to the farm store for an extension hose and i think were good for quite a while. Miss the heat pump though it sure is quiet compaired to the furnace
